My First Stang
« on: January 11, 2014, 08:26:31 pm »
Hi Guys....just thought I'd say hi.

I'm new here and have just gotten the old girl roadworthied and Club Permitted. Its been a bit of a journey....but a long way to go till I get to the standard some of you guys are at.

Shes a 67 C code coupe...matching numbers...I assume thats good (yeah...I know it has a 68 horse on the grille...its because I think the 67 Gee Gee is to big)

I bought it back in October from a guy who said it just needs paint....well

I have rewired her as nothing worked not even the gauges
I replaced the intrumentcluster, dash facia and dash pad
Put a four barrel carby and intake manifold
extractors
full 2.5 inch exhaust
Rear main seal
Sump gasket
Replaced the drag link
Replaced the rear shackle bushes
Replaced the front shockers
Replaced the steering wheel
It had no light sockets except for one headlight...so have fitted all new light sockets
Upgraded the headlights to halogens
Fitted seats from a Subaru (they look okay and give way more support)
Fitted seat belts all round
Thermo fan
Put the pitman arm in the right place ( I and a very wide turning circle turning left)

There are other small things and I have spent about 3 k on her so far just to get to a roadworthy state and I havent started full paint job yet....just some playing with colors to work out what I like.

But its been fun and my daughter has really enjoyed helping.

Hope to catch up with a few of you at the MOCA Victoria events.

Welcome to the forum. Biggest engine for the '67 was the 390 S code. The 428 R code was available for the '68. As Barry mentioned, your VIN will give you the info.  :smile01:

I'm thinking it's a second digit R. A San Jose built car.

Welcome, you're in for a fun ride  :thumb:

thanks for the welcome guys

sorry...my error its a "C" code...nothing special

Have done lots of research on bit hat will fit and wont fit....its not going to be a show car....just a toy to replace the Harely

Took it for another run this morning and she drives like a dream...better than my dirtbox 2007 X5 4.8

And it certainly turns heads....must be that flowmaster exhaust

Welcome, looks like you were stung like so many others with the sellers description. Enjoy your car and the whole Mustang experience.

Keep striving for that 69r - I'm biased but I think it's the best year model!

Welcome to the forum. I am sure you will get a lot of enjoyment out of the 67 and that the 69 will be your second mustang while still keeping the 67.

Its funny how quick kids learn to drive a car, yet fail to understand a lawnmower.

Well new (second hand) diff went in without any trouble.

Took her a test run and is was great...this car is way more of a satisfying that the old Harley....my daughter gets a real buzz when you keep getting thumbs up and people winde down their windows just to hear it at traffic lights.

Brought her into work today on the Eastern Freeway....went very nicely indeed. No Noises and drove pretty well for a girl her age.

Will take her to the Mustang Show on the weekend so she can see some of her siblings

Awesome, so long as the body work is fine and you have no rust issues, what you have pointed out as needs doing are minor things, :thumb:
