Wanted: 1967 Fastback
« on: January 09, 2014, 01:47:04 pm »
Hi folks,

I had arranged to purchase a '67 Fastback fully restored that was already here in Australia. Unfortunately it just fell through as the seller wants more than we agreed on last night. I'd still like to get that car, but I just don't know if I can cone up with the extra cash.

So I'm starting my search again...

I'm looking for a car that has matching numbers and is in very good to excellent condition. I don't want yo have to do yo much (if anything) to it and I'd like to be driving it while the weather is still warm.

Please let me know if you have or know someone who has one of these for sale. I would also consider a '66 or '68. Thanks!

Shame you're not after a '69, there's a sweet Mach 1 in NSW on here going for bargain basement prices.

You could always try and contact the guys from Image Classic Cars, they seem to know every Mustang in Adelaide and may be able to steer you towards one. Call them or send a private message to "Rocket" on this forum. Good luck with your search.

MM welcome, there are always nice cars that come up owned by club members.  Just recently there was one posted by Caretaker http://www.mustang.org.au/forum/index.php?action=profile;u=1144 which was a very nice 65 or 66.  I'd be trying him through his contact.

MM, if you're after a 67fb and prepared to pay that kind of money maybe the 68 survivor from Bosskraft (see forum sponsor link on the right) might suit???

And welcome to the forum.

Shane

I know for a fact that the guys at Image classic cars have a 67 fastback. Might be worth a drive down there and have a chat with them and check out some of the other cars while your there.

If you have facebook, we post the occasional 67/68 fastback in these albums. Everything from projects/drivers to full concourse show stoppers

Good luck with your search and welcome to the forum

Thanks so much everyone! And thanks for the warm welcome too :)

I'll definitely check out Classic Cars. I'm considering the '68 survivor, but it's so original it would almost be a crime to do it up the way I want.

Matt & Sherri,

The mustangs on your page are gorgeous! The tribute car on your FB page caught my eye. Does "tribute" mean that it's meant to look like a certain car, but it's not actually that car?

Thanks!

Mollie

A tribute car means a clone or a copy ,like a mustang may be done up to look like a GT or a Mach 1 ,but is only a basic model .

Thanks for the clarification Glenn. I love Shelbys, but if I can't have a real one (which is totally far out of my budget) is rather just have a fatal that I like.  I guess I prefer cards that are genuine through and through.

Check your messages, I've sent you some details where there's one for sale on another forum, if it's still available.

;)

Wow ... The red one is nice! I think I'd have to convert it to RHD though (I'm in SA and it doesn't look stock). It's beautiful but kind of expensive if I have to convert it and I'd want to paint it too.

How much are you hoping to find a RHD 67 Fastback for ?

I don't mind if I have to convert it to RHD. Considering conversion is going to be at least $15k I'd like to be in the $35 - $40ish k range. I'm hoping to find one that's straight with no mechanical or electrical issues. I don't mind if I need to paint it and fix up the interior.

You should be able to get a conversion for a lot less (about half) than $15k.

Good luck with the search.

Cheers

I just came across this one today and it's already RHD. I'd like to see it in person and have it inspected.

You're right Glenn. Somehow I totally missed the second link. What do you think of it (condition, price, etc). I have to fly out to Melbourne this week so I'm going to see if I can have a look at it while out there.

Thanks. The first guy I spoke with who was recommended by my husband's rotary mechanic quoted $15k. I'll chat with Jeremy from Image Classic about it though.
