My New Mustang.... come and see
« on: December 10, 2013, 10:25:39 am »
Hi guys,

I've been holding off with this post, as I did want to have the car in hand, but I think we'll get more out of it if I share the process with you. The car is a Red 1969 Mach 1 H Code 4 speed. It has been pretty much fully restored, but needs a few minor things to get it perfect. Its due to arrive into Sydney on the 17 December 2013, so only 1 week!! So that's very exciting.

Once it arrives it will take around 7-10 days to clear customs. So I will probably be picking it up around the 27th of December, so how about that for a Christmas present!!

I'm looking forward to joining the club guys and coming on some runs.

Fingers crossed it arrives safely, and nothing major is required for Rego.

Cheers,
Rich

Thanks guys.. I'll be updating this post with a description of the customs process and my experience of it. I used Shermatt to find and import the car, Schumacher are responsible for shipping and freightnet are the customs agents.

So far all very good, but I can't really provide my full review on these guys until the car is safely here and is exactly what has been represented.

Cheers,
Rich

Pretty good going.

Best be ringing around and see which blue slip mechanic's are working the Xmas break, hopefully the RTA will be open too.

Haha.. yeah already looking into that. RTA is closed on the 27th, but will be open on Monday the 30th so thats good. There could always be delays in customs so I'm not holding my breath that it will be ready on exactly the 27th.

If you need a tow you can give Ed from H.Reid & Sons a call - 0418 618 905

He knows exactly where to go to pick it up, give him a call earlier to arrange it.  On the day, you go to the docks and call him when you hand in your paperwork at the warehouse office.

Hi Stephen,

Thanks for that, I was just going to look for your post and Ed's number so that's perfect timing. The car is going to get taken to Chris at SMS for inspection and rego. Chris said that he knows a couple of people, but I've heard good things about Ed.

Looks like you are joining the Shermatt club and the 69 club and the red club all in one. Looks great. (a bit biased here)

Either way, you could see how much Chris's guys charge.

I rang around a few companies on the day, Ed had the best price and when he turned up he knew the guys at the warehouse on a first name basis.

Very nice  :thumb:

Don't be surprised if there is a delay. My 69 was due to arrive a few days before an Easter weekend. Ended up being towards the end of the week after.

Thanks so much for the positive feedback guys. Its very supportive. It looks so much better in the videos that I have in comparison to this picture. But they're the inspection videos so highlights all the niggles that I need to fix. I'll be posting more pics and videos once it arrives.

Rich, you can do some before and after videos/pics. Always of interest to see the good and the bad and usually more educational/helpful to see things that aren't right as it can show what to look out for. Shermatts inspection videos are a good watch.  :thumb:

That's a good idea. I'll get some pics of it when its down at the dock and then when its with Chris to start things off. That will be in about 2 weeks hopefully!
