289 Oil Pan with Provision for Dipstick
« on: December 05, 2013, 08:25:14 pm »
Hi There,

I have a '68 289 windsor motor that I am putting in my 66 coupe and I need to use an oil pan that has provision for a dipstick.  I am using a March Performance serpentine kit which uses a later timing chain cover/short water pump setup from later builds that does NOT have a dipstick provision or boss on the timing chain cover.

Can anyone recommend a good oil pan with dipstick provision that fits this 289 windsor?  Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Fletch

Canton racing street pan about $245 from Summit, dip stick to suit about $20. Or one from and EA EB falcon should be ok I think

Canton is a street race pan, holds extra oil, baffled and has a crank scraper. Gold anodised

Thanks for that ShaunP, excuse my ignorance, but would I have to buy a new pick up as well? I assume I would.  I already have a lokkar steel braided dipstick which I may have to recalibrate, I think it should fit. Also, if I was to get my motor rebuilt to a 347 (it is actually a 302 block) is this pan suitable? Thanks again.

Yep I think it is about $40 for the pickup, sump is $243

sump part number is CTR-15-610
pick up is                  CTR-15-611

Link to sump at Summit, pickup is in the side bar of recommended parts.

289 and 302 are basically the same block, 347 is built in either a 289 or 302 block no issue. The sump will take a 3.4" stroke max which is 347.
