COPS BOOK CARS LEAVING POWER CRUISE
« on: September 12, 2013, 08:26:44 pm »
Well they have done it again in QLD cops book cars leaving power cruise last weekend for defects .Tow your car on trailer and you get pulled over and checked and booked for defects ,now take your rego plates and rego sticker off and still get booked ,because they checked the vin numbers and if it had current rego booked ..... Sure you may say if the car is not in a roadworthy condition you should get booked ,but remember you took the car to a race track and may have set the car up for that day only . I just dont know anymore about all this crap .over 430 cars booked .

And I thought we had it bad in vic, that is just wrong on all counts.
Look at your car. Now back to mine. Now back to yours. Now back to mine. Sadly, yours isn't mine. But if you stopped buying dodgy cars and bought an 67, yours could be like mine. Look down. Back up. Where are you? ...You're on MOCA, reading the signature your signature could be like! Anything is possible when your car looks like my car...................

Glenn 70.I live just south of the border so if I come into your country it would appear I will be fair game for the Cops in my Hertz tribute when it gets registered.Maybe as a foreigner they may leave me alone, what's your thoughts.
I had a rant on facebook about  "downshift" next morning I had a post from Campbell Newman, who basically said nothing as to the persecution of modified and classic vehicles.
My 66 has a set of 265/50R15's under it's ass I am sure QLD cops would love to ping me,Cops will probably not like the set of exhaust diverters I plan to put under the car either.

you could    move to victoria
but seriously this does seem to be getting out of hand ,  sounds like its time for some serious face to face meetings with your local member and the police to see what or who is driving this " pardon the pun "and what they hopeing to achieve'  were many if any mustangs booked ?
It seems that its a one shoe fits all policy of if it looks like a hoons car it is !
It might well be worth having a chat with your lawyer to see what rights you have when it comes to booking cars on a trailer as that would mean , for arguements sake I buy a current registered car from you but has bald tyres so i pick it up on a trailer to take home they can book me for unroadworthy car even though I am not driving it , I get the feeling this is infringing on our rights

I just dont know ,i have not been booked in one of my mustangs or even checked over .Have been pulled over for a breath test and on my way .Its the qld transport dept that cause most of the problems ,not your everyday cop but maybe the traffic branch .Dont know of any mustangs getting done .  Now heres a good one ,a mate, a few years ago got pulled over in his 68 rs ss camaro ,now they have hideaway headlights and the transport dept guys pulled him over for not having headlights ,so he opened the covers and wow it does have headlights ,so they sent the camaro over the pits to see if they could find anything as they missed out on the lights .

Like speed cameras.   It's probably all about revenue raising.  Target a cruise event and they are guaranteed to put some extra coin in the till for end of months quota.

With NSW cars now not having rego stickers you are almost certain to get pulled over no matter what the car. Will pay to carry the current rego papers with you as there have already been instances of cars being booked as the cop doesn't know if your regoed or not.

The cops know if its got current rego or not just by driving by .The thing is if you dont have a rego sticker it must be easy to forget to pay on time ,were as if its on the windscreen and its getting close you can see the expiry date, and pay it on time .I did it last week on my 66 ,i noticed the rego was due and paid it even tho i did get a renewal in the post ,just forgot .

Tow your car on trailer and you get pulled over and checked and booked for defects.

I can't fathom how that is even legal, you aren't driving the car on the road at the time.

Can they still book your car if it is being towed by a professional towing company and you are taking it to a mechanic to get fixed?  If not, I don't see the difference.

thats rapidly changing norm.
highway patrol cars within nsw (not all) now have license plate scanning technology, a camera mounted on top of car which can scan X amount of plates per minute. so it will notify the officer if a car is out of rego, defected, stolen etc etc.   personally i couldnt care and despite all the hype about it most of us with street legal mustangs have nothing to worry about. All of the highway patrol guys i personally know couldnt give a flying firetruck about mildy lowered/modded cars like mine (unless the driver is being a complete tool in surburban back streets with his 6500rpm stallie)
and on that subject of rego checking, if it stops some unreg+uninsured asswipe from hitting me and any of my family, thats one less roadside grievous bodily harm charge id have to defend and id bet most of you would feel the same way.
when a 3 month engine rebuild turns into 3 year bare metal resto.
you get that .....

When I was going for my blue slip I had US plates on and drove past those speed signs that tell you what speed your going when you're over the limit; fantastic idea they are, one thing the govt. got right.

Anyway a message came up saying something about renewing rego; not sure if that was a coincidence or it detected my plate was not registered.

Guys , I also don't want to see revenue raising and targetting of our older cars, but ffs............just keep your cars legal. It's not that f'n hard.
Don't have them too low, too loud, wheels outside guards, massive bonnet protrusions etc etc. Expect attention if you go this way.
If you don't like how the laws are now, don't own it or drive it in a manner to attract the T O G 's! Or maybe try to change the laws.
Unfortunately there are some out there that still seek to attract unwanted "Blueys" attention to our collective rides! Rednecked idiots!
The stopping of cars for inspection that are being trailered is however a pure revenue raising act.
Hoons continue to give us a bad image and need to be banished. Time and place for that!!!

It isn't that hard but it's the hoons out there that put us into their lot in the eyes of the law.  Many cops prejudge classic cars and don't know all the legalities themselves so could issue unnecessary defect stickers.

Having said that, I've yet to encounter any hassles, I got pulled over at a roadside RBT and got complimented on my car, I was very worried she'd ping me for the loud exhaust; which I have since fixed.

Both of mustangs are modified and yes i could get booked if the QLD transport dept pulled me over and got nasty . Take my wheels std was 14x5.5 now 15x 8 and thats a no no ,can only go over 1 inch total not each wheel ,then the rolling dia is increased no no again .Must have a min 100mm ground clearance does yours ,here they have a rod with wheels on it that they run under the car it hits your done . Now this is a tricky one and they dont act on thank god, but you are not aloud to increase the power of your engine more than 15 percent from its factory specs ,etc, etc .Might buy a hot rod and once it passed thats it ,they, the police etc can not defect it as it has been passed and was built that way .

Nothing wrong with a 6500 convertor griff.. Hahaha. I have an engineered bonnet scoop which passes requirements and is not as tall as a rice burner STI WRX... Yet I will get harassed coz I have chrome bumpers and twin exhausts but every time I go out and stay in the left lane I get every HSV/SS OR HOLDON dodge traffic to line me up at the next set of lights while I cruise at 40 mph.  Then you have these skiddy meets or whatever they call themselves post vids of themselves tearing up the roads in their parents cars in groups of hundreds and nothing gets done.  I had them in our estate where they broke into a Toyota dyna truck and park it on the gutter and then went on to destroy the rear tyres only then to leave a brick on the accelerator and leave it running flat out when they left ...

I thought you could get away with a wheel increase if you reduce the tyre profile so the end result doesn't differ from the manufacturer's overall wheel/tyre diameter ... or is it a QLD unique law?

Exactly, my son got pulled over (admittedly he was speeding) on his R6 Yamaha, cop said he was unregistered & took his number plate, said he couldn't be bothered checking....just trying to make it hard for my son.....luckily my younger son appeared moments later & loaded the bike on the back of his ute, cop was really p1ssed.......inconvenience for the boy, he had to go to the nominated RTA to retrieve plate.

took his number plate

The cop actually unbolted the number plate? Wow. They had the time and the tools to do it?

I think some tamper proof bolts are in order next time. That'll censored A em.. I mean be safer for other road users and the environment and so forth...

if you read into those specs alittle they are geared towards P plate rice burners etc , as you know they arent allowed to drive V8's have to have 4 or a 6 but of course bang on a turbo and a few other mods plus 20" rims on a gemini LOL so of course they are outside standard wheel dia total and way over their 15% increase in HP .
We can have a big block if we want as it was option , did you actually know that airbag suspension was a dealer fitted option back in 1967 Ha ! that would f$%& um

15%.... That means 95% of mustang owners on this site would be cop bait... I fit into the top end of that with 200%.  Hope they can't read my number plates off this site.

DUNRITE66 ,just by your photo your busted ,that hood scoop nope ,if you have cut a hole as well it has to be sealed so nothing can come out the hole ,fuel, oil or anything even if the engine goes bang .They will rip your plates off if you can not do it ,seen them do that .
