Shipment from US?
« on: May 17, 2013, 01:35:21 pm »
Hi,

New to the club and new to the classic car scene... Bought myself a 65 mustang fastback recently and as expected, looking at some bits and pieces from the US.

Anyone here has a container coming in either soon or has plans to do so?

Any help / advice is appreciated.

Thanks!

Welcome.
Yes it might help to know whereabouts you live, Me !
Are you looking for a container to ship your car here or just ship some parts to suit it?

Thanks guys!

I apologise. A bit of introduction would help. Ryan here and I'm in Wollongong, NSW.

I am looking to bring in miscellaneous parts - door trims, carpets, mats, steering wheel, wheels, tools, radio, wiring harness, etc. Pretty much just bits and pieces. I know I can get them here in Australia - I bought my fuel tank (current one has a hole in it!) from Harry's Classic but at the same time, things are definitely cheaper over in the US + I'm not in a hurry for them.. I've also read that there are members who occasionally bring containers in (whether for personal or business) so thought I'd just ask and chip in for shipping (with the aim of saving on shipping them myself).

I do frequent Melbourne as well and have friends in Brisbane - so any of these places are fine with me too!

Harry can bring in the parts, i questioned him not long ago he has a minimum charge and a charge per cubic metre, there are other fees you might get hit with here in oz once they land on multiple parts.:smile01:

I used the Shipporter service to bring in some boxes of brake parts by seafreight. It was delivered to my door and customs was included. The cost was about a third of airfreight but did take 6 weeks which going by the speed of my project is more than suitable.
There is an advertising banner on this forum for Shipporter.

Yep harrys classics can bring your stuff in, he shipped a motor in for me for $250 the only cost after that was the gst on the price of the motor to customs, there might be someone in woolongong that could do it, try a google search, I use harry cause he unloads the containers at port botany and its only 10 minutes from my place, his rates are very good aswell.

I have a container coming to Sydney soon. I'm heading to the USA at the end of the month to pack a bunch of the gear up for it, and also go to the Shelby convention while there.

I might have missed Sean - emailed him and couldnt get a reply. So I'm still looking at bringing things over. If anyone knows of anything, let me know!

Thanks!
