Drained ,completely stripped out and flushed the radiator in my 65. Only some loose scale came out of the top tank.
Fitted everything back up along with a TEFBA in line filter, refilled and flushed with fresh water twice. The thermostat (160Deg) had opened at about Qtr. gauge.
Drained once again ,refilled with 5Ltrs of NULON 100% concentrate anti freeze / anti boil and topped up with distilled water.
Went for about a 15 mile cruise late today, temp gauge reached about half scale. Pulled up at home to check for leaks, all good!!  :smile01:

hey raven, had u considered polishing the tail light panel? i saw one on a 68 at sema and it looked the tits!
id rip into that on a buff and blind those behind u with the glare!
griff

Griff,

I have seen some fancy looking ribbed panels that guys have done. Polishing the panels would be a fair bit of work as they are not finished the best straight out of the box. About a year ago,I had to send a pair back to the states as they were absolute crap. They had gouges from a grinder all over them!!! The pair I have now are from NPD, the other were from CJ Pony. They are bit of a lucky draw when you open the box.

Finished up the rear end bar the letters. The tube nuts in the packaging had already stared to corrode. I will have to work something out.

yeah i got ya, either way that rear looks sooooo tough with the chrome bar now. wow!
it does seem more often now that the plating quality of some stuff is so 2nd rate, youd have been so pissed to see the tube nuts corroding before you installed them, not after as per usual....
when i got my oval air cleaner it had course wheel scratches over the entire top, it took me hours of wet and dry sanding to get it near a buffing machine then only to hit it with imron black and then repolish the raised sections. bloody hell the stuff we do huh.
looking fwd to seeing it one day mate
cheers

As this coming Sunday is All American at Flemington Racecourse in Melbourne.. guessing the old gal will be receiving a descent clean from top to toe..
Not that she really needs it..but the polish will be going on before she gets covered up for winter..

The first couple of coats of clear have just gone on and I have arranged a spray booth and a painter for the next 2 coats of clear to be applied after these two coats have been sanded.

Put the front seat in, all inside done now and looks and smells awesome. Took it on the road for the first time in 2 years and with the new motor, tri y's, tranny and diff now reconditioned, twin free flow exhaust, it drives like a new car and the exhaust note is mellow music.  Makes all the hard work and fustration worthwile. Now just a few little things to do and all finished. Really look forward to cruising.

Drove it to Sureflo Exhaust this morning to install an X-pipe, 2.25 inch system from the headers with new mufflers, will hopefully have a nice neighbour friendly tone when I get it back.

Will post up some pics.

took the seats out and stripped them down.  new covers go on tomorrow!
Also continued the radiator install and added some koni's to the rear.

Minor update - got them back today!

standard trim for the front and custom for the rear.  How ford should have done it:
