I am currently freshening up the 289 from my C code 65. 
I have picked up an original 4 barrel intake manifold and a set of hi-po headers and I intend putting a new cam with similar specs to a K code as well as a general freshen up.
The car is a weekend cruiser and is on club rego. 
What options do I have for a carby?  Will I need to use an Autolite or can I put a Holley or similar on it?

I run a Holley 570 on my 289, it has a mild cam, edelbrock manifold, headers, works real well.

Yep a 570 vac sec square bore is the way to GO . Its a bit big but still ok .A 465 would be better .

I have run both 465 and 570, not really much difference between them, i went the 570 purely because it had a port for the pcv valve, that the 465 didnt have.

I will have soon, a good 600 Holley for sale with manual choke .....it is from my car.
I have purchased something else to put on it  :pepper: so it will not be required........may be a few weeks away though!

The 570 street avenger is a far better carby ,the way they are made ,and to tune and work on .

66 Hertz, I am in Whyalla. Moved here from Adelaide earlier this year. 
That is the main point from my question - with the tougher LHD laws and being on club rego can I run a Holley or do I need to source an Autolite.

I am no expert but you will have zero drama rego wise with the Autolite, Holley may be a hassle.....but I wouldnt think anyone would look under your air filter at a rego day check...best thing is to ask one of our vehicle standards gurus.

I spent a lot of time trying to get cam specs for a K code engine & wanted to buy something the same or very similar. I decided to go with the Comp Cams Nostalgia grind cam.

Holley is OK in SA as a replacememt to the original! As long as the airleaner looks original your OK.  :agree:

A decent club inspector can see the difference ( I know) but clubs are fighting to support the members.

remember 20 years ago we had all our cars full rego!

hertz let me know if you want to get rid of the 600. I have spent the last 2 days trying the get the F100 to idle and my foot is sore from kicking things. I think it is just old and a new one would be much easier.
