Restoring historic enamel number plates ...
« on: October 09, 2012, 08:51:55 pm »
Does anyone know who restores black & white enamel number plates? I believe there is a guy near Geelong who does this as a business or hobby?
Cheers,

Maybe try some of the historic number plate forums. The restore service might only be for collector buffs, as VicRoads frowns on any repainting of plates. New old style plates can be ordered from VicRoads and mailed out, or at least that's what I did for our 1966 year of issue B & W plates.

I read an online article on this not long ago, you can do it yourself by spraying the plate white, then spraying it black and with very fine wet/dry sandpaper you sand away the lettering.

If you log onto BossKraft home page, scroll all the way down on the home page, they restore number plates, not sure about re enameling though, perhaps they would be a good starting point.
