Importing

OK, here's the deal, I'm gonna be in NSW by year's end, and I am thinking of bringing in a pre 1989 Mustang (utilizing the 15+ year import law). I've read that its not required to be converted. What else does it have to go through, are there any restrictions on registration, anything to watch out for etc? Whats the aprrox cost of compliancing and registration?

Thanks

I just realized that the car needs to be 30+ years old to avoid the conversion step.

Anyone knows what else is required for it to be complianced or registered in NSW, and the costs?

Thanks

i think you would need a personall import ...15 yr old rule died in sept 2005

i think all imports now need to  be 30 years old unless you deal with a RAWS workshop/importer :(

no i think you'll find it's actually 15 years? Just need to get car import approval with $50 which is easily found on the govt website...

You  can personally import between 15 and 30 years with Dotars approval but if under 30 years wil need to convert to RHD.

Probably not economical to import Mustang between 15 and 30 years old
