Hi Rhys,
I used a early hilux tank on my 67 with a 24" radiator. It fits OK between the radiator and LH guard. If you want a classy looking setup have a look at the June 2012 Mustang Monthly.

As long as you use a rad cap with a seal in it so it can such the water back you can use anything to catch it.

I picked up a universal recovery bottle from Autobarn a few years ago. They're a plastic bottle & cost around $20.
I expect you'd be able to buy one at most auto parts stores.

Rhys Have a look at Hot Rod style stainless tube mounts to side of the radiator
