vinyl package tray for 66
« on: June 16, 2012, 09:29:31 am »
Hi all,

I'm looking for a vinyl covered package tray for my 66 coupe.  As I see it, my options are:

- find a pre-covered tray in blue-ish vinyl
- find  a white vinyl tray and dye it
- get an uncovered tray and cover it

What have others done? Is there a supplier in Oz?

Thanks

I made an MDF shelf & cut out 6" speaker holes. My trimmer friend padded it up with thin foam & covered in black vinyl. Looks great.

Evan.

Just cut one out of MDF or Masonite
Buy some 10mm foam from Clarke Rubber
Buy the vinyl colour you like
and stretch the vinyl over the top and staple it underneath.

Easy peasy.

Made one a few years back.

Then buy yourself a Mustang horse Emblem which you would normally mount on the Grill
and bolt it to the middle of the Tray
and it will look like it was custom made

Walla.

Check out the video,
The only thing I would do different is not to glue it.

From past experience I find that the spray on glue tends to loose its grip
Staples will hold it forever.

Here is a vinyl supplier in QLD I found for you.

There used to be a bloke on eBay selling these for about $80.00, as I recall they were white with the two blue stripes and a Mustang logo between them. other colours were available. Have'nt seen any lately but then I have'nt been looking real hard. They looked OK.
