I'm planning a holiday in Australia, touring around in the south-east part:
New South Wales, Adelaide, Victoria and if I have enough time drive up the coast towards Cairns.

I'm planning to visit Bathurst for the races.
Any suggestions for shows (Mustang or Aussie Musclecar) or interesting sites in the area would be welcome, so I can include them in my trip.

Hi Ronald and welcome.

If you are in Melbourne in October than you cannot miss the annual Mustang round-up.

We have been getting upwards of 500 Mustangs recently which would make it the biggest Mustang show in the Southern Hemisphere.

I dont see any dates for it yet, but it is usually around the 20th or so October. Check back here :

You can not come to australia without comimg to THE GOLD COAST ,QUEENSLAND .We have heaps here for you to do,including classic car things .check it out .

You'll love Bathurst if you like cars and beer. Buy your tickets now though, particulary if you want to camp on site. I last went in 2007. It's a big weekend, I like to get there about Wednesday or Thursday before, set up camp and light a fire. You can only take so much beer now though. It's great fun and a spectactular race track, no one understands how steep it is till you go and see it, it is really a big hill climb and some long straights on the low land.

1970 Twister Special, you will need to allow a fair amount of time for your trip, you are going to be travelling some big distances. You will have a great time though, that's for sure.

Just take a small drive from Melbourne to Cairns , it`s only about 3000 Kilometres ....lol

Australia is a very big place , so allow plenty of time , as there is plenty of things to see and do........

When I fly to Europe
We leave Melbourne Airport and 5 hours later we are leaving the Australian coast over Broome.

Melbourne to Cairns is like
driving from Amsterdam to Moscow

When I went to USA in 2009 for the 45th Mustang anniversary I drove the Mustangs Across America drive (Las Vegas --> Birmingham AL), and after the celebrations I drove thru the southern states back to Las Vegas.

If you get down to the South East of South Australia on the Victorian, South Australian border give me a yell and I can show you around. Good wine district. Coonawarra, Naracoorte Caves, Mt Gambier blue lake, 4 x 4 driving on the beaches.

The route I plan to take:
September 24 - Cairns
September 30 - Brisbane
- Sydney
Oktober 5-7 - Bathurst Bathurst 1000
Oktober 9 - Broken Hill Flying Doctors / Mad Max
- Adelaide visit Tony, who has 3 Saleen PJ's
Oktober 21 - Melbourne Mustang Roundup + Mad Max sites
Oktober 27 - Sydney Chrome Fest (is this any good ?)

If I have enough time in Adelaide I might fly to Uluru.

I've arranged to visit the Aussie Musclecar Museum, which is near Brisbane.
It would be great to meet up with some Mustang enthusiast there.

Shame you can't be in Melbourne for the Cora Lynn Car show! (Chrome Bumper era cars trucks bikes etc) October 7th 2012.
2 years ago this show attracted 0ver 2,250 display vehicles and is one of, if not the biggest fest of it's kind in this country.
