Hi Les
Apparently after speaking with David we are leaving Leo's at 10 am SHARP. May be stopping at The Bakery at Goulburn for coffee on the way through. Also a fuel stop for us coming a lot further with thirsty beasts if needed. At least at that time it will be daylight when I leave home.
Uncle Leo's is a service station / rest stop on the Hume Highway about 2ks from the Crossroads. Probably more details may be available at Wed. nights meeting. I'd keep aneye on this post after that.

Norm has it mostly covered and accurately.

The magazine (posted Monday 18th) has specific detail including location of Uncle Leos.  Extract is now included:

Saturday 23rd February 2013
•  The President’s Cruise to Canberra to attend the Sunday event.
If you are cruising down to Canberra on Saturday morning, meet as at Uncle Leo’s in time for a 10:00am departure and a 2 ½ hour non-stop trip.  Going south, Uncle Leos is the service station on the left side of Campbelltown Road (Hume Hwy), 300 metres past Glenfield Road, Glenfield (Crossroads).

Some of the Canberra members will take us for a short cruise around the sights of Canberra and back to our overnight accommodation at Rydges, Capital Hill (bookings 6295 3144) in time for a relaxed dinner which is usually a popular local club where meals and drinks are of good quality and great value.

Sunday 24th February 2013
•  Canberra Centenary Mustang Car Show 2013
When – Arrive in time for the gates to close around 10:00am

Where – West Lawns – Parkes Place Canberra
Near the intersection with Newlands street and opposite Treasury Building

We suggest members meet at Uncle Leos (see location above) and depart by about 7:00am to provide sufficient time for a relaxed non-stop trip south.

Well we tried.
Got as far as the Crossroads when the beast said I've had enough of this. Been driving for nearly 2 hours and the rain had not stopped absolutely belting all the way down the F3 and the M7.  Nrma came calling with the answer  Not Today. Was looking like a $350 tow job but managed to get home for $200. Was a bitter disappointment as the bride and I were looking forward to catching up with the Canberrians and the couple of days we were intending to have down the South coast. Got thoroughly drenched directing traffic around us and stayed that way till we got home 6 hours later. Have had better days.

Very sorry to hear about your car troubles Stormin. If it makes you feel any better, the forecast for tomorrow down here is rain, rain, rain. We'll be wet and you'll be warm and dry.

Cheers

Norm Moore, I feel your pain!
6.45am  It is currently bucketting down in Canberra but the weather radar suggests it will ease within the hour.
The Committee are heading to the venue now to conduct an inspection and see where we go from here.  An alternative is the carpark behind the Treasury Building in Langton Crescent.

Hope it goes well for you. I know what it's like to have the heaven's open up after all the work that goes into organizing a show. If it's any consolation it's still wet up here.

Hi Stormin,

Just arrived home and changed out of my wet clothes. The day started OK after Canberra was given an early morning soaking. The rain stopped and a good crowd turned up then during late morning the grey clouds rolled in again, the sky opened up and we received a drenching. Thank goodness for the Castrol showbag brollies we were given on arrival. Still it was a good day and there were a lot of Stangs to admire. I don't think we made it to 100 but I'll let someone else provide a final tally.

Hope the car gets well soon

Cheers

G'day Norm,

Just got home and dried two cars off.  The other is still out in the weather and it's bucketing down at 4:30!!

We had 80plus cars.

I don't blame the people who stayed home today!

Nevertheless it was successful and we raised some good money for the charity.

Thanks to all those who braved the elements and came along!

Cheers,
Warwick

They say a picture is worth around 2700 words:

The start:

And was brought to an end by:

Fortunately we had a few trainined in fast water rescues.

Rod Britton's 2008 GT500KR took out the DataVoice Communications Peoples' Choice award
Neill Batchelor's 2007 GT500 convertible took out the B&D Cranes Mustang of the Day award

The Canberra mob returned home drenched but happy after a successful show.

Hi Warwick,

Thanks to the entire canberra MOCA team for a superb effort of day, yes it eventually bucketed but we had 50 at dinner and lots of fun. Look forward to seeing you all soon.

Can someone put a list up of all categories and winners?

Cheers Les

Glad it went well for you. That's a good rollup considering the weather. The way it was up here this morning would be enough to give anyone second thoughts about taking their cars out. Looked absolutely filthy here this morning but around 9 it started to clear and got very steamy. Hot enough to get the car out and let her dry. Ripped the alternator out this arvo and gave it to my auto elec so should have a report on it tomorrow night. Looks as if it's about to pour down again now. After the 80mil we had last night. I think my chooks are developing web feet.

The organisers of the 2013 Centenary show are to be congratulated for a great event which not only raised funds for a very worthy Sarah Disbrey and her family but an event enjoyed by many Mustang owners and visitors. These events take time to organise and deliver satisfaction to MOCA members who not only enjoy showing their cars but importantly enjoy the comradeship of fellow members. Very enthusistic Canberra members....4/10 for the weather [but who really cares!]....10/10 for the event!
