Dizzy cap

I need to replace the dizzy cap on my windsor. It has an Accel electronic type(no vac advance)crane PS91 coil and HI 6 box. I couldnt see a number on the cap(not that I looked to hard).

Will the dizzy have a part number on it so I can order the appropriate cap?

My other question is, why would the plastic which is moulded around the little carbon button (inside the cap) be melted and when i touched it , it justed turned to powder also the top of the rotor button is/has blackish heat burn marks over it.

Any suggestions?

If you take a good look at your dizzy itself, Accel provide the part number for the cap and rotor.

Cheers

I would take a punt and say its from heat!

Heat and age are your likly causes for he plastic turning to powder.
I would sugest changing the rotor button while your at it though as excessive wear can cause a spark to jump and this is what usually causes the burn marks

cheers

Often a crook coil burns the cap, I'd change the rotor and coil.
