WA club plate rules
« on: May 04, 2012, 03:37:12 pm »
Hey everyone,

I heard that club plate rules in some of the other states permit them to take their car out say 40 days a year for personal use that is non club related. Are there any personal use days under WA club rules or is it only club related activities/maintenance?

The reason I ask is for insurance reasons. Club insurance is obviously cheaper but I want to be able to take it out on the odd non club related drive too.

As far as I know Lee (unless it's changed recently) it's the latter. Only club events or maintenance drives. It might pay to drop a line to the MOCWA registrar just to check. The contact details should be on the MOCWA site, if not let me know and I'll get them for you.

Not in NSW.

Vehicles can only be used for authorised club events or for servicing or inspection.

...and something I didn't know till I just looked it up:

Vehicles must be as close to original condition as possible, with NO alterations except for safety features.

That's why the Victorian scheme is such a beauty, 45 or 90 days to drive wherever you want.

That is how they should all be!

Welcome back Lee! Are you talking about the MOCWA plates or club rego for vintage cars?

My cars are no longer under club rego but LSV always confirm that I'm a member of a club. To be honest I don't know what that gets me in terms of a discount but they make a point of checking. There are different levels of insurance, ie "laid up" and limited use, I declare mine as limited use but they don't have to be on club rego for that.
