 HEY THERE PEEPS MICK HERE , I'M A NEWBY TO THE SITE AND  MUSTANG OWNERS FRATERNITY. I HAVE A 1966 HARDTOP WITH GT BITS AND PAINT...I'M CURRENLTY UNDER GOING SOME MODS AND HAVE UNCOVERED THE ORIGINAL COLOUR AS BEING SPRING TIME YELLOW.JUST WONDERING IF ANYONE ON HERE KNOWS HOW TO DECIFER THE ID TAGS,THE BODY NUMBER IS---6RO7T165797.ANY HELP WOULD BE GREAT.

 No door tags,i suspect it has been made into a gt look alike before it was imported,it has 5 slug wheels and is now a 302 windsor c4 combo.tags look dodgy(welded in) but was imported that way.i have all the approval paperwork.may have been a write-off or sumpin.

Think you will find somebody has simply done a V8 conversion.

If it had been a write off  it would have had a Salvage Title.

MOTOR DEVELOPED A RATTLE WAS TOLD ITS A COMMON WINDSOR PROBLEM- THAT THE CAM WEARS AND CAUSES THE LIFTERS TO RATTLE,I REPLACED THE LIFTERS AND THE RATTLE WAS STILL THERE.SO OUT WITH THE MOTOR......HEY WHY THE MOTOR IS OUT WHY DONT I PLACE BATTERY IN BOOT,HIDE WIRING,SMOOTH ENGINE BAY,PAINT IT GLOSS SIVER LIKE THE CAR INSTEAD OF FLAT BLACK,CHUCK IN THE 5LT OUT OF MY EB FAIRMONT GHIA...TAKE THE INJECTION OFF PUT ON A POLISHED ALLY 4 BARREL INLET AND NEW POLISHED CARBY....SHOULD LOOK BETTER ....I HOPE.

 I HAVE A FRIEND THAT RECKONS MY CAR IS A V8 BODY COZ IT HAS THE ORIGINAL TWIN EXHAUST BRACKETS STILL FITTED AND HE SAYS WHY WOULD THEY PUT A 9" BEHIND A 6 CYL.AND HIS THOUGHTS ARE THE POWER STEERING WASN'T FITTED TO THE 6'S.....I'M NO EXPERT AND NOR IS HE BUT WHATS YOUR THOUGHT'S.

Any parts can be added or removed. Remember it's heading towards 50 years old, that's a lot of people that have had their hands on it over the years.

If it is a T-code, then it was a originally a 6cyl car.

6's had power steer too :thumb:

OK SO I USED THE DECODER TO FIND OUT MORE....6R I ALREADY KNOW AS 1966 & SAN JOSE CA,07 2 DR H/TOP,ENG=C-289 2V V8.HOW CAN I FIND OUT MORE INFO ON THIS CAR THERE IS NO IMPORT PAPERWORK SO WHAT DO I HAVE TO DO TO OBTAIN ITS ORIGINS.

The rest is on the tag plate on the drivers (L/H) door. You'll need the codes from that to decipher it further.

Is it in Aus? Does it have previous rego papers or import approval?
