Spent most of today going over the car figuring out where to start in stead of just looking at her. At some stage a rear sway bar has been fitted, this will probably need to be removed for Regency.
Tomorrow will be fitting the new head lights, flush out the old brake fluid and possibly filter and oil change, any suggestions on where to get an oil filter and what part number?

Just a standard Ford filter that Falcons use. Z9, VO1, depends on brand.

No worries:thumb:

Any idea on what oil you may use? Is your motor still original, if so, how many miles?

I still don't know what oil I will use once its back together. But with the damage I found from the wrong oil, I know I still have a few nights without sleep thinking about which way to go. You wont have that issue though as mine was due to wrong oil during break in. I'm curious to see what you use and what others suggest as a long term oil.

I have been debating that question for some time there are so many varying opinions but I will be settling on Castrol Edge Titanium fully synthetic 10w-60.
The engine was reconditioned 9 years ago within that time has travelled only 2000 miles with 89000 miles now on the clock.

Very fresh, should go very nicely for you. You're going to have so much fun!

I'm quite envious! But I have to say I sure don't envy what it takes to keep Regency happy. About the only thing that will be original for them on my motor is the block. And even then it is still date incorrect.

You're right though, there is a lot of debate about which will suit best. The more I look into it the more confused I get. Will probably just follow what Barry Rabotnick or Jay Brown recommend in the end as it will pretty be along the lines of something they would build.

Love the colour of your car

:hammer:

Spent the day pulling the interior apart to remove the seat belts, head lights and radio, removed the rear drums and inspected the undercarriage and engine bay.

So here’s my list of things to do nothing real drastic what’s so ever.

•   Both rear brake cylinders need replacing - Fitted
•   Brake line from body to dif needs replacing - Fitted
•   Front sway bar bushes need replacement - Fitted
•   Power steering unit needs attention including hoses - likely rebuild - Parts arrived - Removed for rebuild
•   Fuel line needs affixing to body as most of the rear section is floating - Parts ordered
•   Fuel tank drain plug leaking - Fixed!
•   Removal of rear sway bar - Regency - Done!
•   Replace chrome water pump with std cast unit - Regency - Fitted
•   Remove Alpine stereo with period correct radio - Regency - Done!
•   Replace all seat belts - Regency - Ordered! - Fitted
•   Replace head lights - Regency - Done!
•   Oil and filter change - Purchased oil and filter
•   Flush out old brake fluid - Drained
•   Flush out radiator - Drained
•   Adjust passenger window seal as door does not close properly when window all the way up - Fix found leave down 2mm
•   Refit rubber cover on clutch pedal
•   Inspect spark plugs (sounds simple anyone with a FE motor will know why it’s not) - First take off rocker covers.
•   Test HT leads
•   Brake warning light staying on master cyl (no doubt related to rear wheel cylinders)

If anyone can recommend where I can get the power steering rebuilt please let me know along with where best to purchase the brake components would be much appreciated it does not have to be in Adelaide anywhere in Australia.

•   Order battery hold down clamp
•   Order spring for inside snorkel (hot air/cold air)
•   Fit missing grommets in fire wall
•   Centre console not correctly fitted need to remove and refit correctly

The information fact sheet provided (I will scan tomorrow and post).

Advise: "The fitting of aftermarket under dash air conditioners, any visible stereo / CD systems and speakers are not acceptable."

From my personal experience talking directly with them or at least the person I went and spoke with they are very approachable and happy to provide all the information you can ask for.  So I would not be directing my frustration (when it happens) directly at them but at the system they must adhere to.

not sure how many times it has to be said............but in Adelaide if it is left hand drive it .......MUST......be bog stock standard, only options allowed are the original factory items from the day!.........now you know why Adelaide cars always do so well in Concourse, because our cars are all stock. If you want to modify it you have to convert it to RHD...........allthough a lot of people go to the trouble of getting their LHD cars registered, then take it home & modify it not worrying.........we dont have annual check ups etc, only issue would be if you were pulled over by the law...:thumb:

Ah, so does that mean only if it's an under dash stereo?

Does that mean you can still have a stereo in the radio cavity?

'Visible speakers'?

Oh yeah later model cars all came with invisible speakers.

Wow so they mean the only speakers you can have, have to be behind pinhole grates?

Was advised period correct radio displayed only (or NO radio fitted). Late model units must be hidden away out of sight.

Only the speaker grills fitted as a option can be used later model speakers can be hidden behind.

Box of parts has just arrived so will be spending the next 3 days working on the car :hammer:

Will be replacing all the power steering hoses (source of the leak) along with the brake hoses front and back, replace both the rear brake cylinders.

The chrome water pump that is in perfect working order gets removed and replaced with a date correct unit.

Replace the front sway bar bushes.

Seat belts will (should) arrive before next weekend.

Still need to pull the plugs, I think that may take me a full day in itself, any pointers?

Nice car!! and great color combo!!! Good to see another C/Jet in SA.
Barry knows his stuff and helped out big time with my questions!!

Power brakes in Adelaide is where I got all my C/Jet brake bits from. They even rebuilt my calipers for me.
To do the plugs!! Take the tappet covers off. Pretty easy to get at the plugs then. Seems like a lot of work but once off, it does not take long.
I would leave the rear sway bar on and see how you go.
Just remove the radio for inspection. Hole in dash is acceptable
Window will never seal properly, I just leave mone down a few mm and the door closes and seals fine
Brake warning light, on dash?? would be hooked to park brake. If you mean rear brake lights? yes it will be the pin in the m/cylinder needs centering when you bleed the brakes.
good luck!!
Oh, and 2 welsh plugs of the appropriate size with a few 8mm holes drilled in them, and slipped into the tail pipes will save you the expense of new mufflers:thumb:

Thanks for the heads up 69candy much appreciated that’s a little more helpful than MachAttack’s suggestion (sorry MachAttack).

Good to know about the window, you are exactly right leave it down a couple of mm and its fine.

Thanks again :thumb:

:hammer:

New water pump now in, all new drake lines and rear wheel cylinders fitted.

Power sterring unit removed.

To remove the plugs: First remove the complete air cleaner assembly, then smog tubes, rocker covers (thanks 69candy) made a big difference.

All plugs looked like new checked gap and refitted. Did find a number of air leaks so happy about that.

As I had the tyres off looked at the dates, seems I will need new rubber, shame as the tyres look brand new.
