I hope so too Chop, but it probably won't get a lot of use in the middle of Winter anyway. At the moment it's still getting plenty of looks from me. I keep going out to the garage for just one more look.......
Cheers. :thumb:

So how's it drive? How many times have you HAD to test something?

The steering is a bit sloppy and the front tyres scrub, I'm thinking I need to raise it a touch. Brakes feel soft but I may just be spoilt in my daily driver. I would never expect it to drive like a new car but I sure don't grin from ear to ear when I'm driving to work.
Not that I would know how it drives of course. :nono:

Sounds very much like mine.

Not that I would drive it either :leave:

I think my 66 manual steer, manual drum brake car drives along nicer. It's going to take a bit of getting use to the power steering in the 69, it sure is something else.

That reminds me Pete, a friend came around on Tueday with his son and nephew so I started the car up and let the kids jump in. His 8 year old nephew was excited to sit in the driver's seat and we hear him say "I feel wetness." You can imagine what we were thinking until we realized he was talking about the water from washing the car splashing on him as he rolled the window down. :rol:

I'm not sure if the looseness in the steering is normal for these cars but it will be looked at for RWC anyway. It's OK putting along but give her a bit of a kick and the front end is all over the place, maybe I just need to hold on a bit tighter. :smile01:

Will be waiting patiently until next week Mwizz.

I had a mate over today and we gave the car a bit of a service and look over. Mostly good on the suspension but a few bushes will need to be replaced, power steeering hoses need replaced but the car is mostly good mechanically. Dropped the transmission pan and what do we find..... 4 screws from the valve body in the bottom. Must have been rebuilt on a Friday. I'm glad I found that before it was too late. The car had another wash so I took a few more photos while it was outside.

First wash was a rush job Pete, the car deserved better. Rain came when I was taking the photos so it had a second chamois. What's the trick to keeping the matt black looking clean? Looks streaky when dry.

MachAttack, Congratulations - The car is an absolute stunner.

The water front crowd are a bunch of greedy arseh@les IMO, just an absolute rort for them with the cleaning of cars ( or lack of ).

I would suggest using Quick Detailer on the bonnet to eliminate the streaks after washing. Just spray about a quarter of the bonnet at a time and then quickly wipe it off with a quality Microfibre cloth.
You can get them at a local parts and accessories store, or by mail order. We buy in bulk from Rex at Chemguys. Here are some links -

Also a good quality Mitt for washing -

http://www.chemguys.com.au/CAR_WASH_MITT_MICROFIBER_p/mic_493.htm

And the best car washing shampoo that i have come across -

Looking forward to seeing the car in October.

Rocket.

Hi MackAttack, I will be driving the Grande over again, but Jeremy or Brad will drive the Red Mach1 over.

The car had been at the Auto Electricians for a few weeks. All sorted now with everything working as it should. Jeremy picked it up late last week and fitted his "MYMACH1" number plates to the car. Problem is - it has been to wet to be able to drive it. Bugger. Need some more sunshine.

Have had a look at all your photos, but this is still my favourite -

Rocket, glad to hear everything is sorted with the red one, I've been waiting for an update on your build thread as I was wondering how it was all going.
Stephen, the car has hardly moved from the garage so can't say much about the ride except that the wheels are too wide for the front. 10" wheels with 255 tyres. They make these wheels in 8.5" but they have to come from the US. Will be looking at August if I order them now.

Why, do they scrape the guards?

10" wheels with 255 tyres.

Can you go smaller in tyre width for 10" rims?

They do scrape Stephen. The PO has had a go at rolling the passenger side guard but has caused some slight damage so didn't bother doing the other side. The passenger side tyre does not touch the guard at full lock but does not miss by much.....while standing still that is. I can't imagine narrower tyres would fit these wheels. If I need to raise the front for RWC I'll see how they sit before ordering the wheels.
