Year, AC or no, manual or auto? Dual diaphragm advance or single (or none)? Original routing differ a bit for each.
On a 68 289, Imco, Auto no AC
- diaphragm primary (front) to carb (yellow stripe)
- daiphragm secondary (rear) to vacuum tree middle (green stripe)
- manifold vacuum to top of tree (red stripe)
- manifold vacuum to air cleaner snorkel (blue stripe"
On a 68 289, Imco, Auto w/AC
- diaphragm primary (front) rear to vacuum tree middle (green stripe)
- daiphragm secondary (rear) to tee, tee to tree lower and intake vacuum (red stripe)
- top of tree to carb (yellow stripe)
- manifold vacuum to air cleaner snorkel (blue stripe)
On a 68 289, Thermactor, Manual w/AC
- diaphragm primary (front) rear to vacuum tree middle (green stripe)
- daiphragm secondary (rear) to tee, tee to tree lower and intake vacuum (red stripe)
- top of tree to carb (yellow stripe)
- manifold vacuum to air cleaner snorkel (blue stripe)
- manifold vacuum to air bypass valve (smog pump system)
Generally;
- brake booster goes to tee at rear of manifold, hard lline from brass fitting to near booster, rubber from hard line to booster
- transmission modulator line goes to rear manifold vacuum tee, if OEM clips hold hard line to near tee, the rubber from hard line to tap
- pcv/closed crankvcase vent; oil filler cap to air cleaner, opposite side pcv valve, hose to tap on carb spacer.

So the answer is... "it depends"
