Hi. Once you have transferred the vin over from the old shell your done. You don't need to tell the RTA anything else simply produce the import approval for the original import and away you go. They wont know it's a new shell unless you tell them.

Much more work than I thought . Gone through many drill bits drilling out all those spot welds.

Found out the left hand rail was also not too my standard. Found a complete rail from of all places "brock auto parts" in lilydale. Every mustang dealer in the country wanted $300+. At that price I was gonna repair it but when I found it for $165 from these guys I thought why not do it 100%.

Looking good. A lot of work to get to the point your at!

I've been using one of these drill bits to drill out the spot welds. I think it is a knock off of a much dearer type but they work well I have found. The blades last pretty good, and they have two cutting sides. Replacement blades are cheap as well.

rp1966, When you put up the first photo of the fastback i thought you were very game, but you are obviously up to the task.

That is quality work you are doing :thumb:

Kudos to you.

Had enough of the spot weld cutting and welding so I couldn't wait to see if my 4 wheel 1965 disk break kit from the US would fit as stated. The diff was pulled out and so I decided to see how this kit would fit. Too my enjoyment it was easy and fitted perfectly. The whole kit was $1099 and comes with every part including the brake booster, master cylinder, hand brake cables. callipers, slotted disks, break lines. Every possible conversion bit appears to be included. The only thing I need to do will be to run a new break line from the front to the back. Which I needed to change anyway

By the way the photo of the disk set up is only temp. The diff will be fully restored and painted before the break system is re-installed. I was just anxious about its fitment. I wish I had bought more of these at the time as I have not seen a better system on sale in Australia. Here you are lucky just to get the front disk break set up for the same price.

Hi rp1966,

What brand and where did you get the disc brake kit from in the US?

Thanks

Hi all. I bought this complete break kit on line from MANATEE MUSTANG SUPPLY INC in Ellenton Florida  USA. The cost of the kit was $1099 and I got it delivered to a friends car in Los Angeles which was sitting on the docks. It arrived 2 months later and customs didn't charge me the gst. They only hit the importer for the cost of the 67 fastback. Goodluck for me. Anyway I enquired about delivery to Australia and they said they would ship it international to Australia for $400. In my opinion thats not bad

I agree, that's an impressive price for all that even with the $400 shipping.

I should have bought 10 kits at the time and sold them on ebay.

Hi all. Pulled my finger out over xmas. Managed to get the full floor pan in. Still not welded in as I am checking for fitment and alignment. I am very happy with the installation so far.

Also put in a full one piece trunk. Putting this in was much more work than the one piece floor pan

Removed the rear trunk and after confirming it's correct alignment I painted the inside of the rear rails with an epoxy anti rust treatment. Should never rust again.

whilst the epoxy was drying I marked out and drilled all the holes in the trunk floor and fitted it back into position.

I screwed the trunk into position and then installed both wheel house's, rear deck filler panel and both quarter panels. Again everything is screwed together to make sure it all lines up and is square. Here are some pix.
