Seeking info please.
Floor pans on a 1970 Mach-1.
I inspected one recently which had body deadener applied to the pans.....was this factory applied in 1970 or should the pans be
clean of any deadener......or am I suspecting a cover up here..?

Could be any of of a,b or c. Although I don't think the coatings were applied at the factory but are pretty common, whether dealer or aftermarket. Sometimes from what I gather it's to protect from snow/salt/rust as much as sound deadening. Is the coating new or has it obviously been there a long time? If it's new then I'd defiitely be asking why. If it's old you still need to have a very close look at what can lurk beneath.

Thanks mate for the info.
It's just that when you see deadener....alarm bells start ringing.
I take your advice on board.....
Another question....The 70 Mach-1s have the plastic embelishment running along the lower parts of the guards & along the bottom of the doors......how can this area be checked
for rust or bog behind them.....using a strong magnet.....???

hi
the panels are alulimun
the front guards are held on by two screws and 2 nuts
the sill panel is held on by screws
the door and quarter are held on by nuts
you just have to check the inners skin of guards and doors
