http://www.nelsonracingengines.com/pricesheets/ford/dailydriver/tt/dds_427_428sbf_tt.pdf

1000hp on pump fuel, 1300 hp on C16 race fuel....

Thats smashing 9's, maybe 8's in a well setup 66 coupe, and 8's, probably 7's on race fuel.... all while being able to drive home!

$35k is soooo cheap!

Have been following these engines for a while, just need them to do the billet intake to suit a 390 (or any ford for that matter). No luck so far. it is a good watch on u tube though.

Guy's,

While Tom Nelson has been building twin turboed V8 for a very long time and very sucessfully, I saw a 68 with this spec engine in it, it certainly is as described, I know I dont want to be working in that engine bay though. Have fun with the ...anything fitment. The heat these things generate will distort and discolor the paint and sheetmetal, They have got around this by laying a 20carat gold aerospace sheet product (NASA product) to a liner that is attached to the bonnet to stop the heat transfer to painted areas. So while the engine is $35K plus freight, electronics and accessories needed will be another $7-10K depending on supplier), Tranny upgrage and all that that encompasses, tailshaft, diff, ect, the aerospace sheeting is another $5+K and I can assure you a serious 4 link, including torque arm, subframe connectors, yada, yada, yada, Oh sh..t what tyres, will be a prerequisite to start. So its a $70K+ option, and then the car is not so streetable. Sounds great but......Darryl

Leaf springs will cope with that no problem, as will the standard wheel arches. Chassis strengthening, tied to the roll cage, is obvious.

The combo I'm considering is a single turbo, and having seen similar in a couple of XR-XY falcons, I feel the baby combo I'm considering won't be a problem.

Good luck with those leaf springs and standard wheel arch tyre combos. You are planning on moving forward  and not just sitting stationary in smoke all the time (Nelson T/T combo).  I've seen a few of these engines in the US and they are great engines, but they are savage on drivelines, and car bodies, I've seen a number of these pop out rear screens at will. Doors that cannot be opened, period, While a roll cage helps with body twist and the like, the car is starting to morph into a street/strip type car and cages are starting to become a drama with authorities, certainly as a streetable car in most eyes....But I agree, all that HP and nowhere to go...such a shame.  I hope the S/turbo works out for you, it a cheap way to some good HP....... Look at some cars at the track, I know a 900hp XR with 100% traction on a radial tyre, with standard leafs/tubs and a Slide-a-Link, runs 9.40's on the street tune, radial tyre and has been driven from Phillip Island to Geelong, and heaps of other long trips in between, in exactly the same guise.

Another XW has approx 1200hp, with standard rear end setup, runs 8.1's (cannot vouch for the long distance drives of this car) on radial tyres.
There is no reason why a 275/60 radial tyred car could not run well into the mid 9's, on leaf springs with traction bars.
There is nothing wrong with Leafs, with traction bars.

I'd get an NRE in the stang for the bling factor. Your foot drives as hard as you want to.
