Hello

I'm having some problems with my 4 spd getting stuck in gear.  To fix it i just get under the car and pull on the linkages and it's right to go.  The frequency of this rising. Anyone have similar probs or can suggest a possible problem / solution.  If not, it may soon have to go to a gearbox specialist.

Cheers

I had this same problem a couple of years ago.  My mechanic reckoned that the linkages were just a bit stiff and he greased them regularly, and I have not had a re-occurrence.

Hi Medic.

I saw Nuts about this last year and he couldn't see any noticeable problem.

Cheers

Maybe you could hit it with a hammer, it seems to work for Clarkson on TopGear!!!!!!  :rol:

However, you could pick  up a workshop manual and double check their placement and aligment

Have a go at adjusting it:

SHIFT LINKAGE ADJUSTMENT

1. Loosen the three shift linkage adjustment nuts. Install a 1/4 inch diameter alignment tool through the control bracket and levers as shown in Fig. 3, 236K.

An alignment tool can be made from 1/4" diameter drill rod bent to an "L" shape. The extensions should be 1 1/2" and 3 3/4" from the elbow. Short end of alignment pin should be inserted into control bracket and linkage holes until it bottoms.

2. Tighten the three linkage adjustment nuts and then remove the alignment pin.

3. Check the gear shift lever for a smooth crossover.

And spray it all with WD40 or some spray grease to ensure it's not binding up,,,,

Check the bushes are ok, the alignment by the picture is the best method, I have never had an issue in last 5 years since I rebuilt mine. Just a bit of patience.:thumb:
