Yep... I believe this car was on the Barnfinds website.
Had the delight of checking this car out on the weekend -
A quick glance at this car told me it is something special. Beneath the faded Indian Fire paint is an extremely straight, original body.
Rust? Forget it... This car comes from the desert in Nevada. After a close inspection, the only bit i could find was the size of a twenty cent piece on the leading edge of the rhs quarter panel wheel well.
Jack had already began refitting the carpet inside the car, but this shot will give you an idea of how well preserved the floor is -
He was thrilled at finding the original build sheet underneath a front seat -
The build sheet is very brittle - so much so - that you cannot lift it out from under the seat spring or it will just break apart. Only option is to wait until the seat is dismantled to remove it, then gingerly try to unfold it.
Also found this piece of lead underneath the rear seat -
I believe this is a bit of lead that was spilled during the process of lead loading the join between the quarter panel and roof during manufacture of the car.
Another good place to check for signs of rust or previous damage is the left hand side trunk dropoff. No problem here -
When i opened the boot it struck me that it was a metallick noise i felt when touching the rear spoiler. Sure enough, the spoiler is made from Aluminium. I had thought they were all plastic. Even the mounting holes are elongated, which to me says the spoiler is a factory fitted unit -
Inside the bootlid is very tidy with original stickers in place. Jack even has the original Jack -
Door data plate is still there -
Engine bay is quite original other than chrome rocker covers. Jack is currently going through the drivetrain, suspension and steering to correct any problems -
I do not think there are too many original Mach1`s like this around anymore. Almost a shame to respray the car, but Jack wants it restored to as new concours condition. Should not be that big a job.
Great buying Jack! Congratulations.
