water pump replacement issue
« on: August 05, 2011, 11:05:10 pm »
just replaced my factory alloy water pump for a drake pump on my 65. (and yes i found that its made in china and had to retap a woeful flange thread dammit)
the old pump has exposed impeller, drake pump has a closed impeller and doesnt protube as deep into the timing cover as the old pump.
the motor runs hotter now when idling at lights and in slow traffic which concerns me for when summer comes around.
anyone else had issues with these scott drake pumps? i noticed that the stock code label says 'Drake Airtex' and the box is written mainly in french then english.
wheres gabriel gate when u need him....

also, has anyone fitted the edelbrock 8841 and found it as good as the promo's suggest.

appreciate any feedback gents,
cheers
greg

when a 3 month engine rebuild turns into 3 year bare metal resto.

I know that on the cleveland forum, the edelbrock water pump is the preferred choice, thats what I'll be getting next.
