Dress up bolts
« on: July 25, 2011, 09:30:11 pm »
What do you guys do for dressing up body/engine bay bolts? I know there are engine bolts kits but I was more interested in singular bolts.

I used to sell Harley parts and they had available single chrome bolts/nuts/washers. Use to sell a few to the hot rod guys and bikies but they were quite dear. Does anyone know of any other options?

Cheers

Stainless steel hex bolts are another option

I had thought of that too. I've purchased some in the past for boats/trailers and what not. They aren't exactly cheap either but easily available.

I normally buy complete restoration body bolt and nut kits from the US. They are available from several sources and for many makes.
If I want them to stand out I get them zinc plated gold or silver locally.

We have various bolts polished and chrome plated, mainly for guard tops and Export braces, shock tower tops etc.

I have seen some of those kits. Would definitely be the way to go for a rebuild. What I'm finding with mine though is lots of odd bolts and nuts. If there are 4 doing something on one item, then there could be 3 different shaped bolts. And some are worn and old so it looks untidy. I just wanted to clean up what was already there. But thanks anyway!

Would you have a list at all of what you do keep in stock? I could just mark down what I need then as I go instead of grabbing a few here and a few there.

Cheers!

Do you mind some prices, you can PM me if you like?

They would be for my 69 428.

Thanks!

Hi Ash,

If you want to 'spruce-up' your engine bay, try looking at Gardner-Westcott Stainless Steel bolts which are available through Rocket Industries.

They're even available with the 'Ford' emblem embosed in the middle of the hex of the bolt, if you're after that style...

Thanks Trans-Am, I'll have a good look through their site. That looks like the kind of thing.

You could always get yourself a plating kit and nickel plate or zinc plate them yourself. I have one and it is a doddle!

I would like to replace the bolts themselves though as are showing their age and not matching each other, bit of a mixed bunch going on.
