Oh yeah - we love pics.

How far are you going with the restoration?

From the photos above, the rear looks pretty good. Are you just replacing the radiator support panel and cleaning up the engine bay?

Will be good to see another Mustang getting around out this way.

By the way, are you familiar with SA registration requirements? Those rocker covers will have to go b4 inspection. Remember, the car has to look absolutely stock. Their favourite saying is "Did it come out of the factory like that?"

Rocket.

ha ha ha guys you gave me a good laugh
I had to make up a dolly as I realised this was going to take some time and I wasnt prepared to keep crawling under the car when it was only on jacks.....as you can see from the above pics this is going to be a full restoration once you start peeling back the layers you only find more rust hidden, chassis rail is cracked and bent both sides, check out the boot we are going to have to replace the whole rear end, trunk floor both sides
rear quaters r & l, rear tail light panel, rebuild brakes, master cylinder, floor pans, battery tray, radiator support panel, lh front fender, shockers, steering wheel, upholstery, coil spring perch, seat tracks and springs
I put one of the doors into get sandblasted just to see what it turned out like and we are really happy with the results so we will put the other door in this week and then the unibody will go in in August...I can recommend them to anyone who is looking for sandblasting only costs approx $50 per door and it didnt damage the embossed metal on the inside of the door so really happy with that.  Things are progressing slowly as money permits dont think it will be on the road this year but you never know we may just win the lotto next week with $30 mill I could order one of everything from the catalogue ......lol

hmmmm..... You have a bit of work to do. Guess we will not be seeing you in the pub any time soon.

The end result should justify the means. Are you a panel man or just very handy?

ha none of the above.... I am trying to do most of the work myself to cut down costs but there are some things I will have to outsource.... will be interesting to see after the unibody gets sandblasted, I guess that will show any rust I havent already noticed

You certainly have your work cut out for you and the dolly is a good idea to move the car around.
But you may find it a lot easier if you had the body on a rotisserie, especially if you are replacing floor panels and rails.
Also if you are new to welding it will give you a good project to practice welding techniques, before you tackle car panels.:thumb:

Hi Oxford
no worries mate no offence was taken,
It is going to be a lot more expensive and more extensive than what we thought when we first  bought the car.....oh well we do it for the love of it
I cant wait to see the car on the road again hopefully before I go bankrupt lol :smile01:

Thanks but I think it will be well outside my skills to do the welding so I am dismantling the car and cutting of the bad parts and I have a restorer lined up to weld in the new panels ...the rego requirements in Sth Ast are really anal about LH drive vehicles:thumb:

Good work, I also love how you have "re-purposed" the family pergola/bbq area.

Good work Chris.

You need a warehouse for all those new parts!

Gets a bit tedious at this stage doesn`t it, but well worth it for the end result.

It may pay you in the long run to get full quarters rather than skins, a lot easier to fit and less welding.
I only fitted skins to my car because it's a fastback and full 1/4 were around the $800 mark, so went for skins.

Cheers Neil.
