NARVA - 72002 H4 7" Freeform Headlight Kit

Looking at installing these lights into my 67 Mustang,

Narva - H4 7'' (178mm) 12V 60/55W High/Low Beam Free Form Halogen Headlamp Conversion Kit - Model 72002
(http://www.narva.com.au/products/browse/free-form)

Has anyone used these lights? or have any idea on their performance?

I understand that it is also best to install a relay with these, any recommendations on the best one to use?

If these are no good, does anyone have any recommendations for alternatives.. Mustang will be driven at night, so looking for a quality, bright replacement

Cheers,

I have read that HID are not legal in Australia (car is NSW reg)... Is there any truth to this?

If HID is the way to go, any recommendations on brands/models?

Cheers

They are what I ran in my old '67.  Fine for daily driver duties, especially in Canberra.  Wasn't fantastic, but a huge step forward over sealed beams.   Did require a relay.

I' ll be running a set of these: http://www.newpro-tech.com.au/gallery4.htm

Stay away from the cheap chinese units. They can cause fires.
Go with digital ballasts over analog, as the lights brighten up marginally quicker.
Go the 35w instead of the 55w units. 55w is way too bright, you can be dangerous to other drivers. 55w would be considered for the country roads perhaps!
Choosing slimline ballasts is better if you have room restrictions, an issue early mustangs don't have.
Don't  quick flash the lights anymore as this can damage the HIDs.

Here's a nice set of RHD lights from NARVA, for the 69 owners: http://www.narva.com.au/pressreleases/asset_id/65/cid/1/parent/0/t/pressreleases/title/narva-completes-its-headlamp-range-with-free-form-conversion-kits

Not sure if you have the option with the free forms, but I went with semi-sealed beams that include the park globe holder.  This allows the front indicator to be a dedicated blinker, and the park lights in the main beam assembly loooks good too.

Other than that, the Narva units have been great.

We sell plenty of headlight options, I think there is a thread in the for sale section.

We also sell heaps of HID kits, and our kits have smart ballasts, that don't require the loom from the battery to each headlight. Our are fully plug and play.

HID's are illegal, anywhere, in cars without self leveling suspension/headlights and headlight washers.

I have recently fitted the NARVA 72002 Kit into my car (from original Lucas Sealed Beams), with a set of NARVA 'Blue Power' globes and I'm more than happy/impressed with the lighting on the road.

Also, they have a slight 'convex' in the lense as well (the polycarbonate lense is not completely flat...)

I would have no problem in recommending the kit, as well as the 5 3/4" size (H4 High/Low Beam and H1 Driving Light) which come with glass lense's (both have a slight convex in the lense).

Cheers,

Traxide make relay kits which use the existing H4 plug to activate the relay.  Although specifically made for landrovers, where the full power for the headlights goes through the column switch, they should still suit.
