where to buy parts
« on: May 19, 2011, 11:06:21 am »
Hi All,

I am restoring a 65 coupe. Where is the best place to buy all my parts? I have looked at some website in the US and they seem cheap but is that the best way to go?
its going to be a full rebuild and looking at replacing 90% of the parts.

Any help would be appreciated.

I use NPD for all my parts and haven't had any issues and with freight still worth it.

I've used NPD and Kentucky Mustang. Both excellent. Kentucky Mustang prices a bit higher but shipping cheaper so I shop between the two every time.

Plenty of Aussie vendor that are well worth a try as well. One of the forum sponsors is Mustang Panels
gary@mustangpanels.com.au

Also Capital Classics, Hills Mustang are very good. There are others as well but I have dealt with these 3 vendors & all offer good service, price & advice.

I've used Hills too and they've been great. Haven't bought from Capital but they have helped me on the phone to source items that they don't have.
Custom Mustangs (BLKPNY) are great too.

Hi any of the major stores in the U/S are okay to use, just remember to keep your order under $1000 to avoid paying tax.

All classic motors are great for hard to find parts.

Ebay is also a good one, if you have a good eye for detail, or if the parts are cheap enough to deal with a small loss if the parts are no good...

No body has mentioned Calafornia Mustang.  Are the others cheaper?  Am I paying more than I should?

I have used Mustangs Unlimited for restoring both of my cars,  I reckon they give a good deal with freight as well through DHL,takes around 5 days to get it.Its always a good idea to get few bits at a time so you save on freight.I have also used Ohio Mustangs through ebay and Don always combined parts to save you on freight.

Hi Alik,
I have used Virginia Classic Mustangs on 3 occasions and each time I received exactly what I ordered and within about 10 days. They let you know how much the freight charges are before they send the goods as well.
If you do buy anything from overseas make sure you dont exceed $A1000.00 including freight or you will have to pay GST.
