As some of you would be aware for some time know I have been planning to build a new car........
My dream Mustang was always the Black & Gold Shelby GT350H ( Hertz ). I can't afford a real one so a Replica has to be the next best thing. For those who don't know what they look like below is a picture of a genuine one currently for sale in the USA for $140000.00
About four months ago my wife & I decided bugger it we only live once why don't we sell the coupe & buy our dream car. I began searching all over the USA & here for a Hertz clone to buy but unfortunately most were either way to expensive or what I like to call SH*T & GLITTER .Hence I have decided the only way to get a car at the standards I can be happy with was to build my own, So since then I have been busy buying up all the parts required to build or convert a suitable donor car. Our spare room looks like a warehouse full of boxes of parts etc. All the time I have been trying to find a good donor car to start with......as you know the better you have to start with , the cheaper & better the build will end up. After looking around at quite a few cars all over OZ I soon realised that a cheap car was going to cost way more to restore then convert into a Hertz copy than to buy a good restored car. A fellow forum member in our club had the most amazing car for sale at a very fair price so we bought that one & now I am pleased to be able to say have started proper on our project.
I hope to be able to share this build along the way with you guys & gals so hope fully we can all enjoy the transformation of what was a truly great car to start with into ( Hopefully ) an even greater example of the world famous Shelby Rent-a-Racer.
front bits off
my shop supervisor.
most of the interior is out
rear functional brake duct holes drilled
as the build come's along I will try to update shots regularly & keep everyone informed. I have only had the car a week but got a lot acheived over the weekend, I cut off the original brackets on the shock towers so I could fit the one piece export brace. Note couldn't wait had to put the rocker covers straight on:cool:
next big job is to cut out the rear quarter vent frame work to fit the windows in......
I hope you all enjoy watching along over the next few months:thumb: Dale
