..... Some of my mates put $4000 on a horse that's still running. ....

Surely, that is exactly what you have done here too??  Only difference is that yours is a Pony

$4000 for a 1965 fastback C code 289 and factory toploader with factory console and genuine 4 speed shifter. It's like betting on a 100-1 in the melbourne cup. Can't wait to see it when she arrives. Was notified today that it will be arriving on the 26 feb. Good thing is that I will be only paying $400 gst. I don't think I will be driving this one home. Full resto will done on this one. Will post pix once it arrives.

I know that. I was just talking about the 10% gst on the purchase of the actual vehicle. There are a shit load of other fees that are added by customs, quarantine and the shipping agent. I have imported cars in the past.

Kitreid everyone has a personal opinion on this topic, especially if they have imported sight unseen, whether it be a good or bad result. I have, and was very happy with the inspection result- I knew what I was buying. Rock was obviously burnt, so he advises never to go this way. I agree with USA, do your homework & eliminate as many possible problems as you can.
Or fly to California... Good luck mate.
Luke.
Yes Luke your right the car i paid $2500 to have inspected is under going a re shell as we speak. I didnt say dont import i just said go and see the car for yourself. The person who looked at my car advertised on this forum and i thought it was all above board. It turns out the guy is a cabinet maker or something like that.I am a mechanic by trade and still work as a mechanic and even blind freddy could see if the guards rub on the doors when you jack it up that the chassis has to be dodgey.Im sure Luke will spend wisely and not have to go through the financial headache and marriage difficultys that i have had to enjure since i  bought my poorly put together rustbucket and be able to enjoy the whole mustang experience.

Hey Rock.

I`ve recently been informed of your situation and now totally see why you have the opinions that you do about trusting ( or not trusting ) overseas sellers.

Hang in there mate. hope to meet up some day.

Scotty ,yes i got ripped by someone on the forum who pretends to know what they are doing, but actually have no idea about buying a good car for a client in Australia. As the company said "1 bad buy could ruin there reputation"and it has. Mite see a few of you in Mandurah on Saturday. Cheers Rohan

I`m so sorry for your probs Rohan. Shouldn`t the forum Mods do something about this member who has ripped you off?? Like, they were quick to ban another US seller who actually had done nothing wrong but you are in limbo?????????????????
