These people sell on eBay for those unware of who they are.

I'd be interested to know the experiences of others also.

I'm using him to import a 66 vert. He seems honest and has a lot of positive feedback. Will reserve final judgement until it turns up tho (supposedly mid-march).

Why would you risk it !

Their feedback is mainly as buyers with a lot of trade in clothing.

Now all of a sudden he has muscle cars listed galore

Their terms and conditions are dangerous for buyers.

Quote:
Seller's payment instructions
Non-Refundable Purchase Deposit of 25% or $1,000 USD whichever is the greater of the two is due and payable direct to motormentor via bank-to-bank transfer within forty-eight (48) hours of auction end, unless otherwise agreed on in writing by motormentor. Final payment is due in full and payable within seven (7) calendar days from auction end and successful high bid in a form acceptable to the owner. Deal with confidence and if in doubt, read my feedback. at auction end, the Buy it Now! price

Another unusual sale was this one, a Mustang for a dollar.

At the moment eBay is rife with scammers.

If you note that most spam you are recieving at the moment is in relation to employment selling on eBay.

We had a situation recently with a valuable coin that if genuine would have been worth $8,000 it sold for $3,000 and yes it was a scam.

The only thing that saved the buyer was the fact that they paid by PayPal.

When PayPal was approached they as usual delay the process beyond the allocated time for a claim so the buyer posted on the eBay forum and we advised the buyer to do a chargeback through the bank which was successful.

Personally I don't trust sellers on eBay unless I know them and have dealt with them before and still only pay by PayPal so that I have Credit Card protection.

This has got to be dodgy.
Check his feedback.
He sold 2 mustangs to a bloke in OZ on December 7 for $1.00 each.
The feedback says the bloke received them in OZ the same day that the auction closed.
Even if the price is false to keep ebay fees down, the date says feedback manipulation, therfore dont trust.
This is a barking duck if i ever saw one!

Thanks for the link peterp. Apart from what everyone else has said, which are all very valid points, I'm wary of anyone who has such a long wordy promotion aimed at manipulating people's 1. greed and 2. fear.
1. Guaranteed 25% return (who guarantees it?) every dodgy mortgage broker, scam artist and sales person through the ages uses that kind of promise, as well as the allusion to gold and silver just to put a ribbon on it.
2. On and on about trust etc etc, too much so for my liking.

And as for the car, that looks like a nice pony for what essentially is $9-$10,000 (allowing for the free shipping and insurance which I gather is pretty cheap). Have a good look at what's available in the States for that, I don't think it would stack up. Remember, this guy has to make a profit so what did he buy the car for, $6,000 or $7,000 or less? That's fine if it looks like a very cheap car, but it doesn't so I'd be wary.

Just my 2c worth, and I could be wrong but I wouldn't touch this with someone else's barge pole! Why risk it for a few thousand dollars?

Rick

Yeah, his site is abit sticky, however the car im looking at does stack up......i made an offer, really just to test reaction, and it came down to neg over $100......if he was a scammer, surley $100 would'nt concern him if he's ripping 16k out of me....? I dunno, as much as it all stinks, he does make up for it in other areas Actually a very nice guy

Crikey, after all the indicators, Kitreid seems keen to STILL deal with "a very nice guy".

Only conclusion I can come to is that Kitreid and Motormentor might be the best of mates or, one and the same!  Shock horror.  Has anyone else been dealing with Motormentor and parted with their hard earned readies???

Kitreid, perhaps hold your inclination to spend till this story is finished.

I've been accused of not being enough of either at times, but being too careful and thinking too much about buying an unseen car from an unknown person on the other side of the world?

It's not for anyone else to criticise your choice kitreid, if you're keen on the car and like the guy then buy it without hesitation, it seems like a very good deal. Just let us know how it goes, we may have to eat humble pie. I for one won't mind doing that.
