'65 Fastback or Coupe?
« on: December 13, 2010, 10:51:37 am »
Hi,
After years of trying I now have the chance, $$ and  time to take on my first Mustang project.  I love 'em all but the burning question is Fastback or Coupe?
Need some advice from those who have been there!
Steve

fastbacks tend to cost more than a coupe.

What is your preference?  Aim for what you like, and not settle for anything less.  works out cheaper in the long run.

Coupe, at least there's a wee bit of head room in the back seat for midgets:smile01:
Seriously, they are all nice and price starts lowest from Coupe to FB to Vert.:burnout:
Good luck.

It comes down to what you like most and whether you want to fork out perhaps an extra $20k for a F/B.

RHD or LHD is another decision - drive both and see what you're happy with. A LHD car can be up to $6K less due to the cost of RHD conversion. Check if any partner is comfortable sitting on the RH side with no controls. You can always get it converted later.

Be careful if buying from the USA as dealers snap up the good cars. Get an inspection to avoid disappointment. Sometimes it's better to buy an import from a reputable local dealer. No shipping hassles and you can see what you are getting.

love your work Alfred, i mean Sprint72
i see the wagon has more lives than Catwoman.

anyway back on the matter at hand,
i reckon it depends on the look you're after.

for a stock look:
if you want a neat little package then i reckon you cant go past the coupe
if you want something more sporting, then its the fastback.

then there's the custom/restomod look to confuse matters

Looks like you're spoilt for choice steve

My preference would also be the fastback.
but you should buy what appeals to you and not someone else,
bottom line they're all good,  just choose wisely

Maybe leaving your options open isnt such a bad thing? If you like them all just look around and find something that catches your eye. If you only want a fastback for example and a beautiful coupe comes along with all the goodies you like at the right price then you may pass it up because you must have a fastback but if you like them all then there is more to choose from.

In saying this, I prefer fastbacks and they are overall more sought after.
