Hi

What width wheels (on a 17 inch rim) would be best if i wanted to put larger tyres than 245's on the rear? What backspace should i go for to avoid any rubbing issues? Cheers, Gary

Get on the search section of the site in this link and type in: 17inch, backspacing, rear wheels etc... Make a cup of coffee coz there is plenty of reading...

I have 10s with 275 tyres on my 70 which is the same as a 69.

I think the backspace is 4.5 inches. Totally fills the guards.

I have 18x8 on the back with 4.5 backspace 255 tyres,
lowered 2 inches and only a little bit of clearance, as yet guards are not rolled but I do plan to have that done and fit 265 tyres.

Must admit I'm with Frank and like to put 10's on the rear and really fill the guards with rubber

Okay, maybe i purchased a 1969 390 GT sportsroof from US ebay the other day. I think the car was listed on our forum here several months ago but was deleted after fears of a fraud. The user (Mick something) advertised cars for sale in the US for his first post and the folk got suspicious. I think some of the posts are still in the for sale sections. Car is pretty rare being a 390 4spd with special order paint (not known - hope i can get a more informative Marti report to find it). Currently painted raven black and red/gold stripe. Will try to get some pics up, but will email you the link as well. About to head out, will post more details later:redpepper:
