Looking for a good engine builder
« on: October 11, 2010, 04:14:49 pm »
Did a search but couldn't find much.

Are there any club members that are engine builders or anyone know of a good one?

I have purchased a 347 stroker kit for my 302 from the states and have stripped the original engine down to the block. I need the block cleaned and bored, the stroker kit fitted and the heads reconditioned. Once the crank and pistons are in I can assemble the rest of the motor myself.

Any referral would be greatly appreciated.

I had an engine built by Kosketi many moons ago.

Couldn't fault it.

Dont know how they are doing these days having expanded.

With Kostecki you pay through the nose, but you do get a good product.

Do it yourself?

What suburb are you in? Performance Mods in Osborne Park for machining.

I have the template so that you can notch out the bottom of the bores for the conrods. Reconditioners are charging about $200 just to do it. You can borrow it & save some dollars!

Thanks for the info fellas. I'm in High Wycombe but I'd take it to Mandurah for a good job so not fussed about location.
Also not to keen on doing the whole lot myself, would rather know the bottom end has been done properly, I really don't want to have to open it up again for awhile.

Thanks for the offer too Peter, I'll be bringing it back in to finally get that exhaust fitted as soon as the new engines in.
