What is the best (read: Cheapest) way to get some? I am at the stage where i need to put some in, would like to do the fire wall + floor pans under the carpet.

I got a dynamat clone from evilbay a while back. Was about half the price of dynamat, but I dont see that product or seller there anymore.

Pity. Seems every bit as good.

Cheers,
Frank.

Go to RYDA.com.au, they have it online, and was cheaper than evilbay, 9pack is the best buy I used five packs, firewall front and rear all the floors, inside the doors and bpillar section of the quarters and in the roof.
Great stuff, but don;t go for the substitutes, they can burn Dynamat does not.

The stuff I have is pretty much exactly like dynamat. I cant see why it would be more flammable. I only used it on the inside of the cabin.
I dont believe it should be used as a heat shield next to exhaust components - there is proper heat shield for that.

Cheers,
Frank.

Every part of mine is inside, just take a sample of yours and hold a flame under it!

I cant remember the name - but I did a search on eBay for sound deadener, sound proofing, sound mat etc. etc.
I think it was eMat or something like that.

I would know it if it came up.

Not sure you should go with it though according to Muzz67 - altho I'm not sure I have any left over to try the flame test.
Got me thinking now ....

Cheers,
Frank.

As you said its not wrapped around the exhaust , you would need extreme heat through the firewall or floorpan or naked flame to ignite it , carpet roof lining , seat , door trim is all flamable anyway

I've done abit of research as this http://www.jaycar.com.au/productView.asp?ID=AX3680 seems to be the best product on the market but is very heavy. They have this as well. http://www.jaycar.com.au/productView.asp?ID=AX3684&CATID=15&form=CAT&SUBCATID=645

Cant really justify spending $1,000 on dynamat to do the whole cat

This guy advertises on another forum..
Is essentially unbranded Dynamat..

http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Sound-Deadener-OEM-spec-Dynamat-Fatmat-etc-/160430520650?cmd=ViewItem&pt=AU_Car_Parts_Accessories&hash=item255a67794a

Has anyone used this product? Seems reasonably priced but I have no experience in whether this stuff is good or not compared to actual Dynamat.

There are a few other threads on the topic so you can search the forum.
I used the DBKill product and just in the process of finishing the interior. Seemed very similar to Dynamat etc, has an aluminium layer so I can't see why it would not shield heat.

I used dynamat...the difference compared to no dynamat  is unbeleivable, When I put it in I had an engine change, I put my 347 in and I thought not to much of it, was a little quieter I thought...but when I but the old mild 289 back in I thought the old 289 was a different donk...I could hardly hear it, and at 70 MPH all I could hear was wind noise from the windscreen...I thought " I dont remember wind noise from the windscreen before"
It works just great. luvhev
