Project Brandy
« on: July 09, 2010, 02:48:11 pm »
Thought I would do a new thread for the Aussie side of my adventure and to start it off I have changed my cars name to something a little more close to home for me. Brandy was my first dog I got when I was 15 and wanted to be a Jackeroo. She was a massive red cattle dog with a blue streak down her back like shelby strips as her Dad was a blue cattle dog.

Anyway my car is being stripped down as we speak with Steve (soc123_au) from St Mary's Prestige looking after the build and Chris from SMS Performance looking after the mechanics.

Things that need to be done

Mechanics
Rebuild C4 transmission
New Steering
New front Suspension
New front brakes (going disk)
Full Engine reconditioning
Haven't looked at diff yet
Headers and exhaust reconditioning
Haven't looked at rear suspension yet either or rear brakes

Body and structural
Full engine bay replacement including skirts, radiator support etc - only half decent parts are rails and towers
Full new floorpan
New firewall
New bootfloor panel - diff hump
Complete undercarriage proofcote and sealer
Replace the qtr panel extensions to the correct model
Redo the front valance
Touch up all the chips and paint the engine bay same colour as the car.

Plus plenty more I am sure

Steve will stick up a photobucket link of the build for anyone who is interested.

$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

Not touching the outside at this stage. Funds just won't allow it. I like the colour scheme but I am hoping a good polish will get here shining nice for a few years.

I don't think chris has a web site but i might be wrong but he is the AMCCA forums mechanic with his own section , " chris's tech tips , the link below is one of his threads with all his contact details, we all pretty much use him, he even works on my daily drive.

Were you expecting a total rebuild cage or is this how the car was described to you when you bought it?

Rock, most of this was unexpected at the time I bought the car. I knew the engine hadn't been started for a couple of years and the gearbox was dodgy but the rest was supposed to be OK or be getting fixed with the price quoted. After that things started to come out of the wood work so I got her home ASAP to fix it all here properly. Basically I didn't get what I thought I was buying, but that's life I suppose and I am looking forward to getting her finished off in fantastic quality and getting on the road.

Cage go to the wreckers and buy an XF front end, rebuild that while Steve has the car and then bang it in. Won't cost much. Do it while he has the front off the car.

Just finishing off a couple of others & then we can hook in. All the parts are here so its just a matter of getting it on the aligner & start chopping it up. Once it starts it will move along quickly.

Cheers Steve. I will come and see you towards the end of next week to have a look and sort through the parts. I will be away for the next few days so if you take any snaps send them through mate. cheers
