I had a mate ring me today. He is working on a XP falcon that has a 302 windsor fitted. Apparently it has a Holden 6 cyl water pump fitted via an adapter plate. The plate looks like a manufactured item bought off the shelf.

He has no idea why the modifocation has been done other than the pump appears to sit higher compared to an original pump.

Anyone seen this type of mod before? It's a new one for me.

Castlemain Rod Shop made it, the Holden pump is shorter than the V8 Pump, I think, so you can fit a Radiator.

Thnx Blkpny.  That was quick. I new someone here would have heard of it before.
I guess there must be a space issue in the XP engine bay.  Had  both of us stumped why you would bother other than for space.

Cheers

I have an XP running a 302W and there is plenty of room in front of the engine. More than the straight six actually. I run a standard water pump with a 2" fan spacer and a fan and there is an 1" to the radiator. Don't know why you would bother with the mod.

Where it was made originally would give that away. It would have been made for hot rods such as the Model A (little room before the radiator) & not for the early Falcon application.

I can only assume that this was on the donated engine the car in the OP received.

I think it was actually meant for Cortina's and Escorts, with Windsors and Clevo's.

It's a Model A thing it's the first thing you do to fit a windsor in a rod. Very common mod.
