That's just terrible.

I know Brown St, I'm trying to think of where a basement car park is - one of the units?

I don't park my car in that part of town anymore, once I parked in a side street off Enmore Rd and someone put a hole through my window with a screwdriver or something.

Not sure why they didn't proceed to break into it, could've got spooked or just mere vandalism.

I have a Club lock on steering wheel and another lock from wheel to clutch, it won't stop someone who's serious but it may deter the amatuers.

Hope you find it soon.

Don't read that WYLD71 thread - heartbreaking.

I've posted your ad in the Torana forum.

That's bad news. viv can I suggest you also direct the info to the MOCA club in each State? There's a good chance it would be sent interstate somewhere, and not everyone will get to know about it from an online source.

This one is probably interstate by now - probably QLD.

All those nice original parts on ebay and elsewhere for the restos come from from somewhere.

Just guess where some of them come from.  Any ideas?

Next time you look to buy something ask questions and spare a thought for this guy!!

Thank you all for your replys and assistance, please note, we have done a massive letterdrop in the Newtown area and establish that the car was stolen at just before 11 pm Monday the 7th of June, from the basement carpark and was seen in a laneway at Newtown with two individuals around the age of 45, one with long hair and mustache spending around half an hour hotwiring and starting up the car, then driving away.

Any more information to help find the car would be greatly appreciated and I will return the favor if I ever can be of assistance to you

Crikey that fits my description though I look younger.

45 years old, the shame.

You'd think they have better things to do.

That description does fit bikers and they would do that sort of thing, they have a big hush-hush network to onsell to both here and overseas.

So someone watched them for half an hour obviously doing shadey business, and nobody called the cops or asked them what they were doing?

That's nothing new.
I was at a conference once and went down to the public car park under the hotel to get something out of my car. The only problem was I was very much under the weather and couldn't remember the numbers to punch into the car alarm. So off it went and I spent another ten minutes trying to stop it and at least 20 people walked past and took no notice whatsoever.

I'm not sure what efforts are being done in tracking down these culprits but it's highly likely the parts will end up on ebay, etc.

Do cops/customs check exports to log parts leaving the country?

I'm sure it's an exhaustive task but if there's a stack of car parts of a particular model leaving the country in one container or one person over  a period of a year say is exporting, is the origin of the parts even questioned?

What's the latest with the GPS tracking devices, I recall them being introduced then heard nothing much.

Have they come down in price, etc.?

I also remember an alarm with a beeper (trading post), if you're within 1km it beeps you when the alarm triggers, any experiences?

I recall there was a website and all you had to do was ring a mobile number then accept the application and that mobile could be tracked via your computer while online. Track your partner or something.

You could leave a spare phone switched on hidden in your car, when it gets stolen track it town.

There are also GPS tracking devices to monitor your spouse's movements for cheating purposes, apart from expense (if it's huge) I can't see why  it couldn't be used for your car security.

Any specific parts that you recall had a particular identifying feature? i.e. The original air cleaner had a over spray of red in the underside of the lid - anything that MIGHT help people to track down the parts and identifyt hem?

Heavy (new) equipment like excavators and compressors have GPS tracking, it was on the news recently where an excavator was stole from a yard over the weekend and they arrested the thief using the excavator before lunch on monday;_

I've heard of Data Dot Technology (DDT) for tracking purposes. I understand it is in the paint?

All FPV cars are sprayed with DDT.
The vehicle's VIN is sprayed in micro dots on surfaces other than the exterior paint and so identifies those parts as belonging to a particular car with that VIN. So if any other car shows up with those parts, then those parts could be deemed to have been stolen.
