From as far back as I can remember I have wanted to own a 1967 Mustang fastback.
It arrived today!
The coupe was always going to be the "gap filler" until I could get my hands on a fastback.
I intend to keep the coupe and enjoy it once it is on the road.
This baby is going on to a rottisserie in the shed as soon as I can find one.
Nearly didnt make it though!
Took it for a spin up to my mechanics as soon as it arrived, (on his trade plate) and got it up on the hoist.
Few suprises but nothing that cant be fixed.
On the way home, in the rain i "broke traction" (as opposed to "broke wind") at just the wrong time (it was an accident, honest!).
Mr plod didnt believe me and for a little while it looked like my new toy was going to get a short "holiday" at the police compound!!
I have worked closely with the constabulary in a previous life (fireman) and they are generaly great people with a tough job.
This one though was a dead set pr%ck!!
Anyway, long story short- its in the shed.
I still have to wear earplugs to bed though.
I can still hear my departed wife saying "you did what????"!!
What do you guys think?

-
Cool! Enjoy!
-
Its a 67 too! That's the way!
Give us a run down on the mechanicals and a bit of an idea on your plans with her.
Two sensational cars, you must be pretty happy with these toys!:(
Where are you at, with the Coupe? Johnno.
-
Good to see it made it... so the rear wheels got going ok.. i didnt doubt they would...:+ what surprises are underneath??
-
ors!
-
Thanks guys.
Cheers Brett.
Was going to drop you a txt to let you know it made it safely.
Found a couple of dubious patch panels on the floor and the boot floor drop off's.
Hard to see under all the body deadner.
Not a bigy mate.
Will probably put a new floor pan in anyway.
Not sure wht internals are in the big Clevo but lets just say its got some snot!
The 4v heads are a bit of a give away sign!
Driving it was dead set like being in the McQueen car in Bullit!!
The 5 spd Tremec shifted sweetly and even the sound was the same!
Johnno, not sure which direction to head in yet.
Could be a Bullit replica with a twist!
Kinda keen on the pro touring thing as well.
Plenty of time to nut it out though
-
Very nice..;_
-
Good one mate,.....I am jealous:(
-
very very noice,
where she come from?
-
Cheers Rick
Actualy bought the car from Brett_T up in sunny Brisvegas!
He brought the car in from the states (Washington State).
Its still got the Washington Tags on and was registered up until March this year
Its only been in the country a few weeks.
-
Very nice, It looks good enough to register as it is.
-
NNNNIIIIIIIIIIIIIICeeeeeeeeee:+:+
-
Sweet!!!! How could you pull it apart without driving it for a year or so , just touch it up a bit. :+
-
So jealous.
Looks like a real find.
Wish I was in WA to help your resto.
Exciting news about the engine.
A great bonus
-
Very nice ! I remember when Brett was selling it that it looked great.
A Clevo in a 67 ? I thought they only came out with Windsors and the FE motors.
Congrats.
Cheers,
Frank.
-
I have thought about it, Thats why I took it to my mechanic today.
It would probably need a couple of grand spent to put it on the road as a reliable driver and my coupe is nearly on the road now.
Can only drive one at a time so i figure that this one be my project whilst I cruise around in the coupe
-
WA thirsty???
Bendigo is not that far west mate?
-
Hey Thirsty, you been getting directions off the Dashboard Doc?:w:w:w
-
Very nice:(
-
Go easy Johnno .... Not my fault Thirsty is confused.
I thought the same when I read WA ... hes taking something I think!!
Congrats Doug, good lookin' pickup.
I know some guy's with an engine stand ... do you need it soon?
Can run it back as we may not need it if the 390 comes back to us put together.
Cheers, Geoff
-
No rush Geoff.
Still got a few weeks work to get the coupe on the road.
Plus I gotta squeeze in some phase four work on the blitz if I can work it!
-
Only gagging Doc!
-
Nice score Doug, when are we all coming up to strip it :+
If I get up in the next day or two, I will drop you a line if I have time. I'm thinking Bendigo may be a hit and run story for me with work supposably starting again for me on Sunday.

I have no idea where I pulled WA from?
Maybe I should of cracked a ;+ !!
Its 1.20pm on A Friday - After reading about my WA screw up I might head home and have a nap!!!
Since you are in Bendigo (and part of the mustang blitz team) I would be only happy to drive to Bendigo to give you a hand when needed. In fact, I have to head to Bendigo within the next 4 weeks as I am heading past Ian at Mustang Marque for a few bits. U2U me your mobile and I'll swing past if you are keen.
(:w - Since people commented about my WA screw up, I couldn't go back and edit the post!!!! Too late
-
Dont worry Thirsty
We all have blonde moments from time to time:+
You go and have that Nanna nap and you will feel much better!!
Now, when you come up to lovely Bendigo dont forget there is a servo at Calder Park that you will probably need, then theres is one at Gisborne and another at Woodend and then Malmsbury.
That should get you to Harcourt wher you can fill up for the last leg to Bendigo:p
I could be looking for a chop out when the coupe comes home in a coupla weeks.
Going to be touch and go for the roundup on the 18th!!
-
nicely done, looking forward to seeing this one on the streets of Bendigo.
-
To say that I'm jealous would be a massive understatement!
-
67hardtop
Hows the coupe comin' along, might she be ready for Dandenong nationals?
Or do you need some helping hands?
Dashboard Doc :a
-
G'Day Geoff.
Mate it is going to be touch and go for Dandenong.
She still hasnt fired up yet (tomorrow I hope).
If I can get it running and off to the auto electicians before Monday, I should get it back by Friday next week.
I am not that confident that I can get the interior back in in one week end.
We will see how it pans out.
Its got to be engineered and rego'd as well!
If I get it back together by Monday week, that gives me the following week to do all of that.
A lot has to go right but I havent given up entirely:_
Cheers
Doug
-
Good luck Doug. Would love to see this 67 Beast at Dandenong. Johnno.
-
Sing out if you need a hand ... I think I could rake Thirsty in for a drive as well. :(
-
Cheers Mate.
Fingers crossed all falls into place!
I will be at the roundup, its just a question of which car I am driving!
-
Doug, I'm under all sorts of threats if we don't make it.
