Hi Gentle men and ladies I'm a new member ! Have just bought a 65 mustang coupe and would like some help on where to go to get it converted to RH drive in Adelaide SA if any one can help that would be greatly appreciated

:welcome: , without going into the whole debate - I would leave it LHD.

Conversion is a personal choice, and it's not up to us to question Chippy's decision or to change his mind, just to welcome him to the forum and advise him as best we can, as the RHD/LHD issue can be and has been very contentious in other threads. Chippy321, Welcome, mate and good luck with your car.

Welcome Chippy, I've converted to RHD and my 1967 Convertible is nearly back on the road. If you would like to talk about the car during the process when you find someone local to help you, I'll be very happy to help in any way I can. Have you got a photo of your car?

Welcome Chippy, take this for what it is worth...
A: You can leave the car left hand drive because that is how it was 'made' which is usually the only logical debate/argument on that side of the coin.
B: It was made LHD BECAUSE the car was made IN THE US where people drive on RIGHT side of the Road... thus due to saftey of visibility and so forth, being LHD there, the driver would be the closest to the centre of the road where the most things would be visible.
Now if the mustang was an australian car (like the GTHOs etc) then it would be RHD because here we drive on left hand side of the road.
So there is NO valid argument in leaving it LHD because if they drove the way we do here, they would have been made RHD.
That debate is void.
Converting it is the best thing for you to do if it is what you are keeping.

I'd convert a GT500 KR if I had one, they are just old cars don't loose sight of that. If someone want's it left hook they can swap it back,and they never will, you can buy all the parts new to swap them back. People don't convert them cause they don't want to pay what it costs and can't do it themselves, the rest is just excuses. It's all right cruisin around town, doing lapps of the bay then Left hook is fine, but run down the Newel Hw from Brisbane to Bathurst, or north to Townsville on the Bruce, west to Dalby- Roma on the Warrego, etc, single carrige way Highways, you want the wheel on the right side, you really do, look, squirt, over take, done, no mucking around. Your average pony isn't worth that much in real terms, they are cheap classic car on average, a rough V8 Monaro or a 1/2 special Torana is worth more . If you want RHD do it, and if it's done well it will drive better then new.

A big yes for Eric did mine 12 years ago. Still drives like any other RHD you would never know except for the shifter button on the left

I looked at my shifter lever on Saturday. The button only moves a ball attached to a cable. There is a little pin holding the little lever that works the ball and cable, that can be reversed, I believe. We may need to drill a hole to take the retaining pin on the other side at the top of the lever. I have two levers so I intend to try with one of them.

That's right John Greene swaps them when he converts a car. The other option is to find one out of a Cortina they look almost the same but have the button on the correct side.
