Title: Ready to cruise!!! (finally)
Post by: A-T-Bone on January 30, 2011, 11:06:52 pm
Hey all,
Reasonably new member, been busy but it's finally blue slipped and rego'd.
Imported last January, been working on it since and it passed Blue slip a year to the day after hitting our shores!
It's a '66 289, manual.
Over the last year I've added pony interior, new carpet, wood grain steering wheel/dash bits etc, disc brake front, power booster, replaced 3 speed with 4 speed Toploader, diaphragm clutch, electronic dizzy, all new suspension (a little lower), resprayed and detailed engine bay, all new external chrome...and heaps more that I can't remember.
The PO66NI (66 pony) plates went down well for my wifes birthday present!:sant:
Heaps more to do, keen to option it out eventually with things such as centre console, original 8 track and any other rare factory options I can find.
My wife and I are stoked with the result and excited to be new members here and hope to meet heaps of fellow owners/fanatics to swap experiences, stories and good times.
Comments/feedback always appreciated!

:hi: Many thanks for the positive comments.
For the brake set up I used a dual circuit master from a later model, a VH40 remote booster, Mustangs of Melbourne brackets, VL calipers which had to be filed a little for the wheels to clear and slotted XW rotors. Although not original, it pulls up well, compared to the horrific drums it arrived with.
Down the track I'd like to research calipers that'll fit with more than one piston. Kelsey Hayes may be the way to go and they will presumably not fowl on the rims.

What wheels and tyres are you running?  I have been trying to locate some rallyes with the argent (light grey) inserts

thanks

The wheels I bought off ebay and in the listing it said they were an original set, not reproduction, besides that  I really have no idea I'm sorry, although I've wondered myself what the difference is to the ones you often see with black inserts, and the tyres are cooper trendsetters, which came fitted to the car from the USA.
Sorry that doesn't help much
