Title: THREAD CLOSED 16 year-old Wants a Muzzie THREAD CLOSED
Post by: AllThingsRunning on January 10, 2011, 07:24:14 pm
Ok... I have $7,000 to pay with by the end of the year I hope.

Is it at all possible in some small way to get a Mustang in driveable condition here for that from one of the members?
Just has to drive, doesn't need paint and can be dented to heck.

Just has to be drivable.
I want to do it for my year 12 High School Auto Project.

She's going to be just a daily driver, so nothing fancy.
But.. Going to use as many anti-theft items just in-case.

(I have looked around and see a LOT.. and plan on having Shaved doors just to be different.)

Help with this is appreciated.

It has to be pre-70's though.

Any coupe would be good.
Not a fan of convies and only the 69 Fastback I like.

I think it can be done - you would need to pay about US$3K so by the time you ship it pay the taxes, it would be about A$7K.
It would be a roughie, but  possible.

Pity you missed this :

only sold a little while back.

Good luck
Frank.

Here's a cheapie in Bendigo, sounds like it might need a little bit of work though:

Brock Autoparts in Lilydale, Melbourne have a 66 project car for under 10k and you might get a deal being a student type. Good luck.:thumb:

Thanks, at the moment I am looking on AS-AUS.. but his 2 grand cars go for 10 ish.. when here.

Is there someone over there you know who is selling one cheap enough for me to get here without me having to go and view it?

I trust the people here with their knowledge of the 'Stangs, and if anyone can offer me one that is perfect for a Project I would be greatful.
Basically.. a standard car.. that drives but needs dire resto on all the standard panel areas that are found to be damaged.
If the panels are rusted out and need to be replaced or chunks of them need to be replaced that is cool, OR if the panels are dented and ruined by damage that is cool.

So.. yeah.. one I can legally register after repairing the panels and floorpans, etc.

As long as all the main structure is fine I am happy.. as it is a School project it cannot be horrible.

Thanks for any help.

Thanks @Sprint but I am 16... I can't use Ebay, if he has a number I will call.

Just hopped onto Brock Car Sales on their site Igalop.
Thanks you two.

Not sure where you are but you cant drive a V8 in vic till p-plate duties are completed.

I am in NSW.
I can drive a V8 here if it is my only car and there are no others available to me, as well as it being limited.

On my P's.

BUT.. the whole idea is NOT to drive it until it is done, I'd just prefer it in driving condition as I don't want to have to do much on the drivetrain.

The whole Idea is to rebuild the outer and the interior.
I do have driveline experience, and will be able to do it competently after.. a while.. as if  keep her I will be rebuilding the drivetrain with new stuff, but for now she's just a Shell and Interior re-do.
I will of course re-condition the drive train, but no mods, or rebuild.

Personally I wouldn't touch that with a 40 foot barge pole.
It screams of rust, rust, rust and ??? structural integrity problems in the rear and at that price I would give it a very wide berth.
Only my opinion ATR. I could be wrong, I have been before.

When a car has that much rust, the chances of it NOT having some structural issues is low i would think
the car posted earlier was an absolute bargain, dont know if something like that will come up again

Contact Barry Reynolds at Early Pony Parts, he may have a vehicle that suits your needs

Yeah.. I have a year... and.. that kind of deal wont come up again because of all the people building those bloody eleanors.
Personally they look ugly.

If I can get a 67/68 coupe, personally that would be nice, but I like the 69'ers too.

Nothing says nostalgia of the Mustang heritage like the 64/65/66 mustangs.

Have you thought about maybe a non driver?  Quite often good rolling shells stick their heads up over here.  You could buy a cheap early falcon as a donor for engine/box.  The old log head 6 cylinders are pretty bullet proof.  A can of VHT and you have your engine 'rebuild' done.

6 months ago I could have put you onto a T code 66 for under 2 grand.  add 500 bucks for an aussie donor car for engine and trans, it was cheap buying.

They do come up from time to time.

Cheers
Jas

The one I posted earlier from ebay looks 100% better than this and is advertised as no structural rust and is here in the country, though still buyer beware of course. There is a phone number listed in the ad. If you don't have the money now though I suppose any suggestions won't be that helpful anyway.

Welcome to the forum... I myself am 16 and have a 67 coupe... you say you can drive a V8... Damn lol  so many simalarities i myself would kill for a 69 fastback you would have noticed that 6 cyl cars go for afew k less depending on the condition of the car mine has a falcon six ( as mentioned before you can get a donor or reconditioned motor ( or one needing reconditioning ) which o intend to do in a few years time... Im sure its obvious but you MUST find one with a "clean & straight " body ie. Rails floorpans and general lack of rust which unless it is a newly restored.car is hard not to find rust... as for year definatly pick a year or 2 and look for that there are 7k cars you just have to look at as many as you can to get an idea of where rust generally is, what things to look for etc. Good luck

Post by: AllThingsRunning on January 10, 2011, 10:54:07 pm
Well Jas24zzk, if you can find me one like that.. then all I have to pay for is trailer.. and as I plan on building custom cars and repairing/restoring cars as my job and hobby (how kewlzat?) I will need a trailer and I know of a 2 axle trailer for $1,200 with current rego.

The reason I wanted a driver is because I wanted to be able to move it around without relying on trailer/truck.
I would take it to registerable condition, register it, then continue work..

but hey, if I have to bite the bullet and get just a rolling shell, why the **** not? As you said, just chuck in new parts from an early 70's, late 60's ford and 'm good to go.. unless I can knock myself up some RRS Suspension stuff pretty quick and I'll go all out on the drive train even before I finish school.

Heres what I am going to do to the car in basic terms:
Repair the shell, water/rust proof it, get her up to sealed, straight and dents clean, undercoat her, have her nice 'n' grey.
Then, build up a mostly fabricated interior using a LHD setup, remove that once it is all measured up and test fitted, then spray the body, put the interior back in and Voila, one High School Car built.

Well.. I then add drive train (if it doesn't have one which seems like my best option here..), and while i am doing the drive train, convert it from left to right and.. yeah.. I KNOW I should do this BEFORE I do all the interior initially.. but I have a budget.. and I have budgetted for what I am doing to the body for the project.. anyway, make her RHD and use her as my daily driver.

That's just my Idea though, need to get the car.

I don't care if it is a 64,65,65,67,68,69,70.. or maybe if I'm lucky a fastback of any of those (so.. doubt that.. except maybe the 64,65,66 found a few cheap FB's..)
And... Something not work intensive.. but more than enough for a High-school project...
To put it this way.. an engine "recondition" is full marks basically... and that's just to have her run well and not explode in the scrutinisers eyes.. which would be funny.. and ultimately deserved by them for some of the stuff they have done.. (didn't say that.. >.> :hammer: )
So... yeah, I have a whole year and 5 hours a week set to work on her, and outside of that and normal classes as many hours as I can fit in.

So yeah.. a Rolling shell is cool.. so long as it is under $4,000 which again.. I doubt in many cases... but hey.. you said it's been seen before, they say time is a Circle right? :-P

LOL.. ok.. ANY pre 70's Mustang that is perfect for a High-school shop project, no matter, rolling or powered, so long as the damn thing is under $7,000 at earliest June.

I know where rust generally lies, this is not the first car I have worked on, and it wont be my first mustang I have played with.. I slammed a 68 coupe into a tree a while back that we had as a paddock basher on the farm.. I now however live in sydney and wish that that Muzzie hadn't been taken and crushed.. from what I've seen.. hell, she'd pop right back out. :-P

As my grandfather would say when we saw a totalled car out at the wreckers yard.. and by totalled.. I mean, crumpled, splattered.. crushed.. you name it:
"Don't worry mate, she'll buff right out"

Yeah.. he never meant it as a joke.
He rebuilt a p76 from the ground up from one of those crushed cars.
If you ever see a bright orange one with chrome American Racing Torque Thrust rims on it.. that was his.
And 70% of that is new shaped metal.

I was looking at a 6,000 drive away 65 coupe a while back.. got bought before I could drag my arse out there to make a deposit.

You lucky barstool...
Pickin' up chicks in that sexy and curvacious black beauty would really make you happy.

Too bad mine I'll be street-lighting.

>.> again :hammer: time.. lol

Either way, Daily driver, shaved doors, shaved trunk and hood, hood-pins, 80% black glass, battery in the trunk, wiring cover under the column, and Circle-safe key lock.. that you can't key, and to make it un poppable.. it has a metal bracket behind it.

I ain't letting my baby go.
Ever.
once I get her of course.

KNOWING ME THOUGH.. by the time I am thirty, I'll have a 65, 67, 69 Coupes, and 66, 68, 70 Fastbacks.
:-D:smile01:

let the :drink: pour forth..

Will you intend on converting to RHD? if so it can be VERY expensive (10k or so if done properly) mine is LHD first car i drove was easy since i have driven a late model laser RHD and found LHD to be no harder apart from the massive Bpillar when at an intersection if yhe passenger doesnt move their head. i would be too worried about going interstatre for the right car it is definatly worth it... All it takes is hireing a trailer or truck or even geting special permission and driving it back just see the NSW equvilant of Vis roads...( sorry not sure what it is in NSW) trucking it down doesnt take too long... if you do go interstate either find a well know member/ RACV to look at it or look at it yourself if possible.

If it is a 67, I can get a 4 grand conversion kit easy peasy.
Got welding experience myself.. but My uncle is a certified welder.

For the 64,65,65, or 69,70 I know a few people who could fabricate me a firewall from either scratch or modify an existing older falcon wall.

unfortunatly its not registered or roadworthy. Needs a few things first like windscreen washers and seatbelts apart from that i dont know.
By the way its midnight blue it does look black though will give you that... Drove past my school when i got my Ls... Not even 5 months ago alot of people thoguhit was black... Wouldnt mind painting it black though with white rally stripes and front F'glass spoiler would look pretty hot... Not with Ps though... havent even turned 17 and already planning to colour key the paint with he plates to hide em... Lol with a nice set of 17" foose rims would look awsome... With an aluminium dash ( either standard or digital) delux interior sou ds good... I think its done i have a plan! Wish it was registered...

Look forward to reading more of this... Was beginingto think i was the youngest or close to it to have a muzzy... With ya on the f'back but i want a black 69 mach 1 with delux mach 1 interior and fro t rear spoilers with rear louvers... Sounds good... Unfortunatly i dont think saliva is good for keyboards... lol

as for converting it you just have to weigh it all up... With a few things to consider i have talked with people who converted their cars ( when it was illegal to have it LHD and they say it never handles the same. As you have to cut and weld the steering rods etc. As well as a 67/ 68 dash having that curve towards the edge can be quite horrible it you dont do it exactly right + there are things like cost (being able to weld would help and having an uncle that can weld would be perfect but would it be worth it when it can be kept for free???

Just food for thought
Title: THREAD CLOSED 16 year-old Wants a Muzzie THREAD CLOSED

lol..kk.

Conversion is easy.
just buy a new steering rack.. that's only 600 bucks out of pocket... nothing compared to the rest.

I rode in a Dark blue 67 coupe today.. the guy offered me a lift walking back towards penrith..lol.. all I had to do was scream WOOOO! with both thumbs up and he did a U-turn and drove me into penrith.. I love my life.. anyway...

The dash is able to be replaced with a proper mirror dash that is a repro for a couple hundies, so that is no problem.

Handy hint for your Muzz.
ORANGE INDICATORS.
Only my other pc.. the one no longer on the net.. :-|
I have the link for a HEAP of different repro suppliers both here and in the US, and the first thing you HAVE to do before you wanna go register it.. is slap Orang Indicators on the little devil.
They comes as a replacement pair of all 3 light parts made from LED's with new plastic coloured panels for them, 2 red, one orange.
Just slap them into the original sockets and put them in the holes and voila, road legal mustang on the ass-end.
That's here in NSW anyway.

"would be perfect but would it be worth it when it can be kept for free???"
Uh.. he's gonna do it for free anyway.. he's got to, I got his Zephyr running again, he has no choice.:smile01:

If you want the links to repro Mustang parts, like lap-sashes, and washers, just U2U me and I'll send them.

Just get the Hideaway licence kit from here if you want to go illegal....
http://www.thehoffmangroup.com/autoloc/product.lasso?prodinc=hiddenlicense

haha.. fully legit... illegaly.. They are made for shows to hide license plates for photo's and what-not, but I'm sure a stock midnight blue coupe sleeper with no number plates would be fun to track in the registry.. XD

HAHA.. I don't care if it is a fastback or not.
Everyone performance mods and body mods fastbacks.

Time to see a few super-sexy Coupes.

Well well well, coupla young bucks talking the virtue of left or right.

Lets look at bling value.

You own a mustang
90 points

Its a 6 cylinder.
no point loss, coz the girls don't know any different

Its RHD.
a whole lot of money spent and the girls don't know still

Its LHD
add 10 points coz the girls like the wow factor of staring at the oncoming headlights with no steering wheel in front of them.

I learnt to drive in a left hooker, and it made no difference to me.....i shoulda done my drive test in it to scare the liscence guy :smile01:

The money spent on the conversion and engineering papers could be better spent on the car mate.  Even keeping it simple, you will get a better result, and something you will be proud of and the babes will dig

Keeping it LHD then.

Just can't over take anyone unless I KNOW the road is clear.. or the car has a massive Donk under the hood with a heap o' kick.

I'm not into driving it for the girls...
I'm in it for smoking the Jap-Crap.
hehe.... I know that's illegal.. but...  didn't tell you.

DON'T WORRY.. I wont crash it.

Here in Vic i dont think you need the orange indicators as my mums car doesnt have them and it passed fine apart from the sound... Wish mine was that loud as for converting it i think it is WAY cooler jumping in the wrong side as for knowing the road is clear ahead when overtaking i dont think there will be any shortage of volenteers for riding shotgun. Nowadays i dont think you can do your testnin a LHD vehicle as the supervisor cannot reach the handbrake or something like that... anyway i dont like that jap crap either and the "crapodores" just piss me off we have one who keeps drifting his heap of **** around the corners and constanly an old crapodore one or which actually managed to rigt off his car by tboning it into a tree across the road at 11pm...****head he was if he had a passenger there would have been a funeral and he would be in cuffs
The rules are different in Vic, you cant drive. A V8 unless requested by an employer during work hours.
If it has a turbo / super charger its no go
However you can if you can convince Vic roads that it is the "smallest" engine that fits your car... Or if it has a low power:weight ratio... At least thats the way i understand it anyway havnt read latly though so it may have changed.

Take it to the drags qtr mile im sure you can chuck a big V8 in and beat almost anything on the drags with a few "mods" you could do it at 18 i think...( not too sure on that) a shop manual of the specific year is very handy has EVERYTHING in it from preserving the paint to reconditioning the engine specific to your car as for modded coupes iv'e seen a few lowered to the point where 1 or more peopleit bottoms out, tinted windows, blowers, turbos spoilers etc. fastbacks i almost cry when i see em modded beyond recognition its sad you think... How many people would kill for a car like thst and they have ruined it by doing things like half a big block out the bonnet... google "69 mustang art car in images i found one of a 69 coupe with heaps of **** glued to it parts falling off and what apears to be rotting things ont the dash... Its sad i have a few ford mags with pics of an early coupe ( cant remeber the year) with a big tail/ spoiler or something welded to the decklid looked hidious

(my way or the high-way :hammer:)

So, I will continue to look, but can people please keep their eyes peeled just in-case.

And if anyone cares I know of a nice little 6,500 ford 4 door thingo just near cranebrook...
Looks ok.. but it's on a trailer in a field.
If it is still there next time I'll grab a pic and post it.
it has a :phone: too.

would totally ruin my day to get it though.. not my style.. but would be awesome to pimp.. can't get it though... want it for some reason, but hate the idea of having it.. :banghead:

If I pick up a clean mustang coupe for you at $5000 will you pay me a $2000 spotting fee?
You could then spend 23-25k do it up over a few years and sell it for say 30k. Then you would have 30k profit to sink into the next project.

Allthingsrunning, please lay off the drugs. They are bad for you. I want a few of the $600.00 rhd racks you speak of also the mirror rhd bezels for a few hundred would be cool too.

I know from your postings on a different forum you live in Warrimoo, jump on a train & come down to my shop at St Marys & you can have a look at a couple of Mustangs in progress & see whats involved in fixing them. I am not familiar with any high schools in the area that are equipped to carry out car restos. It doent work like in the movies, I think you have watched Grease to many times. Start with a heap of junk, sing a little song do a little dance & instant hotrod. Not trying to be the fun police but lets be realistic......

Im sorry...but I just have too?

Allthingsrunning.....How old are you mate?

The reason I ask is I met this Chinese Hooker a few weeks ago in the states and she told me that she gave good head jobs.

Now at this stage, my mind was in the gutter but it turns out she worked for hooker headers. I must of misunderstood what she was saying...you can sorta see where Im going with this.

So anyway, whilst I was asking her about her important contact details and making payment, A young fella came out of nowhere and asked if I wanted to score?

I was really taken back from what I thought he was offering but i took the chinese hooker employee into a dark ally to see what we could score

It turned out he had a 66 GT phase 3 HO shelby Toarana. It wasnt a real one but it looked cool. He said I could have it if I gave him a litre of coke. well I dont do coke but I said I would buy him some to help him out. He told me that he was my best friend and he would give me the car once I had completed my journey into the DARKSIDE....I was even further confused as I didnt have a flat tyre.

Allthough my mum had one years ago but she just called the RAA and they fixed it...pretty cool huh?

Once completeing all the transactions, I ended up with the keys to a 66 off its face battle torana truck car, and hooker employee that gave good head jobs but had no idea on how to lap the valves in correctly.

I asked her if she knew anyone that could give a good lappy??

Well it turns out, she knew several friends that gave good Lap...and I like good lap

Long story short, as this story goes forever (a bit like yours), I asked her

****(CENSORED)****

$5000. Wont get you nothing but a bad nasty taste in your mouth, a dirty girlfriend  and.... a habbit.

...."Welcome to the world of Mustangs"

Hopefully I didnt Pi55 on your plantation

Steve

Really!!!

My mum really had a flat tyre. You can ring her if you want.

It was 7 pm and she must of run over some glass or a nial but the RAA guy said it was a random puncture.

I didnt believe that story so I rang NASA and they said it was a nail.

I rang Kevin Rudd and he said it was glass

I rang Vin Diesel but he told me "he bows to no man"

What do you believe???

So I called  Tony Hawk...you know ...the scate boarder dude...he said it was thrush....I think that is a brand of tyre or something.

Im still ringing around but Im going to get some answers

Matt

If you are referring to the M-ustang-M-artin guy on the other forum, that isn't me.

I read his thing and thought he was rather stupid.. expecting a fastback for under 10 grand.. wtf?

Shermatt, I hace stated that I am 16, just like JT_1994.

A couple of guys are willing to help, some say they have found rolling shells for under 5 grand, and that they do pop up from time to time.

I don't live in Warrimoo... don't even know where that is.
I'm a Mt. Druitt boy.

See.. I guess.. wanting a coupe of all things under 5,000 is a dumb Idea.. yeah, sure it'll need heaps of work, but I don't only have access to school facilities.
My mate's dad says I can use his workshop any time I need, he has a lift right in the middle and tons of floor space.

I have never Seen Grease in my life.

I have no set base as to what I am going to do with it.
I just know that I want even just a shell to work on, and I am quite aware of the major Rust hot spots and I have the ability, friends with the ability, and time as well as equipment available to do it.

This IS the only forum I have posted on.

And apparently that guys email address has my name on it?
Steenbeeke...

I honestly know of no other steenbeeke's at all... Being a foster child didn't help, but if there is one and you say he lives in Warrimoo, I'm sure I'd like to meet a family member... even if he is a dickhead.

If you live in Mt Druitt then its only one stop to St Marys. I assume you know where St Marys is. Seriously I am happy to show you a few things on some of the cars we have here. Then you will have some idea what you are in for, also check out some of the pics in my photobucket. The link is in my sig.

Funny I didnt mention what forum from the thousands of forums on cars, or what user name out of the millions of user names out there. And you nailed it in one try, are you sure of who you really are:rol:

I fully respect that you guys know what the F*** you are doing when it comes rto mustangs.

But she isn't going back to "original" beautiful stock condition.

Blacl on black with chrome and wood trim.
Most of it is going to be custom.

All I need is a Shell.
If anyone can find me a rolling shell for under 5K, then If I can get it at the time, as soon as it is payed for and in my posession I will gladly hand over another $500 to the finder.

I know I wont get anything.. even half good for 5 K.. unless I am lucky.

I ain't bending the laws of physics by saying it is possible.

My end idea is a NICE daily driver, nothing overly fancy, just gloss black with chrome trim, such as chrome wing mirrors, chrome window trim.

There will be no badges, or writing on her, she will be completely blank and black with chrome trim.

I haven't worked out anything along the lines of wheels.

But she's not going to be powerful as my first car.

The interior is going to be nothing fancy, modern front seats.. but with retro covering, retro original rear seat.
And she's staying LHD as I will most likely end up moving countries around the age of 20... so, no problem for over there... no problem here either.. but. meh.
Sticking with MPH gauges.. again.. country..

I am replacing the rear lights with repro orange indicator fitted ones.

6 cyl.
Basic brake Discs.. probably a set of Mazda ones, front & rear
Body is clean, no fancy bits.
Super dark tinted windows.

I have an idea as to what I want as a daily driver for the roads and work..
But I am not going all out, I know it will still cost a fair bit, but hey, live and learn right?

Nothing wrong with custom stuff, My car is off its head with mods. We are all happy to help you achieve your dream, but most of us wont p#ss in your pocket & tell you what you want to hear if it isnt true. You may get lucky & pick up something clean for 5k ish, but if you save up a bit more & get something better you will save in the long run. Have you checked out my albums yet? That will give you an idea on what you are up against.

When it comes to what brakes etc etc to use, again most of us have walked that path as well & can advise the easiest cost effective soloutions to most problems. You just need to listen & learn. As for buying something rusty, dont do it. It aint worth it. I own a panel shop so for me fixing rust & structural stuff is easily done. That said i would never ever ever buy another rusty car again. Purely because it is cheaper in the long run to buy a good bodied car to start with. The repro panels & body pieces cost money & take a lot of time to fit. Add the cost of consumables, grinding disks, sanding belts, paper, disks, gas etc etc & it gets out of hand. I would much rather fix them for other people. The only exeption to that would be a rare car (Boss/Shelby) that had all its bits apart from a rusty body.

Just buy $20 worth of scratchies a week to supplement your income.

Find someone who knows what they are doing and let them find one for you. Don't annoy them or bamboozle them with crap and you will find people are generally pretty helpful. I repeat find someone who knows what they are doing and let them find one. If they can't find one within your budget just save more and come back.

Have patience (something our generation lacks) and it will eventually happen if you go about it the right way.

I posted 3 comments in quick succession with no reply because it was 3 am.

I have no Income so to speak of that is worth anything, this money comes from my Grandmother.
She's the one who initially inspired my love of mustangs.

And why the f*ck would I waste 20 bucks on scratchies a week? They never earn you anything.

So far the only advice has been on the body itself.. none on actually ATTAINING the car. I am 16 years old.. of course I ramble... you just have to keep up. So far I have not said ANYTHING that was useless.

All I need is a body, sure, I KNOW on average you wont find a good body alone for 5 grand..
Luck.. luck, luck.. something I don't have.. but who knows?

So far here is it:
Find me a damn shell if you can, I am still looking.
But I have at max 7 grand and I need it around June to start the Auto's project, that is my limit, and that is my budget.
If nothing comes along before then, well... I'm stuffed.

If you are continuing to assume I am the other guy.. then you are very wrong, I have never actually met, nor heard of this guy outside of forums, and I am not him.

Half the stuff you guys are saying that is random and off-topic must have something to do with him.. because I have no idea what you are on about, I am here looking for a Mustang that is all.

I don't care if it is a 65/66, or a 67/68 or a 69/70..
I know the 67/68 are through the roof in prices even for a pretty bumbed shell.
And it's hard locating a Mustang as is over here too.
The 69/70 mustangs are pretty expensive.

But from I have seen the 65/66 mustangs are the most commonly sold for the cheap.. and most commonly have lots wrong with them.

I WILL if I have to import one eventually, and as I said I want one for my school project, and I should Ideally get it around June, if not then I will have to find something else to do, I have a few back pocket cars that when done I would sell and turn a profit... But I "want" the Mustang soon..

Life is a matter of wants and needs, and well.. I want a Mustang, but I need a car for Auto.

If I have to I will just slap it all down on a piece of cr@p ute and work on that,

Oh, and you guys keep saying turn away from rust... well.. I enjoy fabrication, mods on vehicles for me don't stop at drive train and interior and a few trim mods.. I like the full metal work mods on the exterior body, such as functional vents and intakes, that is why I am not giving too much of a care about any rust, as with the 65/66 the floor pans aren't repro.. yet, and playing with metal is something I enjoy.

I am listening to any advice offered, and the best piece so far was to keep her left hand drive, and I have accepted that, because I kinda like it.
The guys going on rambles have offered "help" and some advice, but it's off topic and I have NO idea what you're on about.

I will come and check out soc123_au's shop and see what he does, I just need the time outside of my bad as bat-sh#t checkout-chick job, give me times to come and see and I will gladly turn up.

as for that "good things come to those who wait" bulldust.. I never have believed that because it is a full load.
If you don't do anything, it ain't gonna do itself.

ADVICE IS NOT "RUST IS BAD"
If you think that is advice.. then you are really.. really arrogant.

I don't care if you think I am that guy, I am not, I guarantee that.
I am 16 and live of 10 bucks an hour and four 7 hour shifts.
I am living in a Department of housing home, and I have no social life to speak of, yet I spend time with friends doing things.. mostly f'ing around with cars.

Those steering and dash bezels aren't available to anyone off the hook at that price, and you have to know him... doesn't help he now sells out of the US and shipping is a pain, he knows me and he has saved my skin a few times, and a few things went on with him that mean that anything I ask for I can get off the cheap.
I've known him since I was 5 or 6 as he was a friend of one of the people I was living with at the time.

I would, If I could pay for them, get them over here and sell them to you guys, but I ain't paying $400 shipping, I have as I said, 7,000 at max to play with for the car.

And I don't like being used, so I am not using your money to buy through him.
You guys are meant to be  "in the know" now's your chance to shine, cuz I got nothing to contribute except friends.

If you honestly believe that patience is a load of crap then you are going to have a tough time no matter what you do. I may be in Sydney next month and haven't seen Steve's shop either. If you don't get to St Marys before then try to make it down next month since I'd really like to meet you.

Patience in waiting and expecting a Mustang to arrive is a load of scram-jet.

You have to look yourself because someone else ain't gonna do all the work.

Blowing your grandmas cash on a pile of worthless crap instead of waiting for the right opportunity sounds a lot more like scram-jet

Guys I'm a legend at RHD Dash bezels now. I'm keen on a bulk order though:cool:
Shaun's customs, can do this stuff, any mega panel work I'll call in Summer nats legend "Jigsaw" Dave Johnson, was on the turps with him today. He could make a mustang from a 180B with an english wheel and pull master.

A legend does not call himself a legend, nor does a Genius call himself one.

If you don't want help don't ask for it, Mate, I can make you RHD Bezels if you want one. Cheaper for everyone if I have few to do at once. If you want Dave's number let me know happy to pass it on. Not many blokes here can say they have won trophy's at the Summer Nats for customs. There are only a few real panel beaters left, Dave is one of them. Jigsaw was/is a super charged wild custom FJ holden, won at the summer nats, was in Street Machine Mag etc,etc Dave built it when he owned Crusin panels.
Car and custom trailer it lives in now belongs to Dudley Monument

Doubt he calls himself a legend though.

He is.
But he doesn't call himself one.

Like I said if you don't want help don't ask , quite a few blokes here know what's, what and can help you, live the dream, but you need to listen to what they say, or you'll be just another of those guys who ends up with a car that need $30k-40k of body work to fix, At $70 an hour it mounts up quickly, Ask Steve from St Mary's he'll tell you. Not sure what he charges but that would be about the money, you can be sure of that.

Mmm..
That's why I am becoming my own mechanic.. duh...
read.. hello.. the whole point of this is to get me started in car modification, repair, restoration and rebuild.

Not to have someone else do it for me.
I want to do the entire damn thing myself, no matter how long it takes.

And compared to it all.. only the drivetrain is hard for me.

I came here asking for a Mustang.

Not advice.

I got some, and yes, it was good.
And I understand "rust is bad" no need to constantly say it.

And I say: if it's a 65/66 and has rusted out wells I don't care, fabrication is fun.
If it is 67+ then just buy new floor pans.

All I ask is that someone find me a "structurally sound" mustang that has all strong and clean bits where it REALLY needs them for under 5 grand.
I know this is possible.
I also know a sort of clean shell is possible too.
If the car rolls and has an engine and drive train but the shell in all the rust spots is rooted, but the main structure is fine then that is even better.

I only need the outside to look like a Mustang.

Mate, insulting Blokes like Shaun will get you nowhere. Shaun is a legend on here & he knows what's what. In short I can't help you with a cheap car right this minute. I & others are trying to give you advise. If you want to come over a Saturday morning is easier for me. Monday to Friday is pretty hectic. Give me a call on 0414 752 461 if you are serious. This Saturday is out but from next week we should be right. We get you aren't too concerned about rust, how many rusty US imports have you actualy seen? What we would consider a rusty xy falcon is usually much cleaner than an average mustang. Wait until you see a bad one. How many floors have you fitted, what about chassis rails? The parts cost money, to fabricate them yourself costs money, steel isn't free. Checked out my photobucket yet? Don't be scared. I have been doing this stuff since I was 15 plus playing around with cars before that. I was 37 when my rusty mustang arrived & I was in shock at how bad it really was. The body is good now, but has had about 500 hours put into it. Those 500 hours are all by experienced panelbeaters. Add the cost of parts & away goes the coin. I know your time is free but 5 hours a week won't scratch the surface. A bit of rust is fine, just don't buy a shitter.

65 to 68 floors are the same dude. Someone is giving you the wrong info. Have you rung early pony parts yet. He would be your best bet. I got a good 68 shell off him that owed me about 6k sitting in my shop. It was a bare Coupe shell with the roof cut off. Bloody good shell though.

I can probably do next saturday.

And no I haven't called him yet.

As long as the replaceable parts that rust out are the rusty one I am happy.. hell they can be non existent if need be.

The whole reason I am doing this is to rebuild the car.
I am looking for a good shell, but it's a long shot at 6 grand as an average.

Advice is one thing, telling me what to do is another.

When I get the shell then I will ask for help to do with mechanicals and actual metal work.

But right now I just ask for a shell at the very bottom of the restore pile, one the is structurally sound and has no major rust there, but if the floor pans are non existent and there are no quarters worth salvaging that is perfect.

BUT.. if someone can find me a clean shell with minimal rust for 5 grand, I will happily give them another $500 on top as a finders fee.

I am not specifically looking for a "bad" shell, but "bad" shells are my options.. and the best of the worst is usually the lowest of the "good" and doesn't come close to the "best" restorable shells.

Once I get it I will worry about the issues.

As long as she's straight, no structure rust, and is actually worth saving for a first timer who is very willing to build one from ground up.. even if I'm only a quarter done and it's looking like a mustang again at the end of year 12, the work put into it I think would be worth the full marks in the end.

I will ONLY take a salvageable shell though.
I wont take something ridiculously bad.. even though half the stuff I say sounds like I want to.

Can someone give me a list of available options for 5 grand in the region of just a Shell, on terms of availability of each shell, as well as their repair value for just bringing the shell to solid metal.

If those seem outlandish.. or so far fetched that they are impossible... I will do my best to take it to 10 grand.

2 months ago there was a 6,000 '65 coupe that ran, no major rust and all that was actually preventing any kind of proper road legallity after the rust repairs was the fuel line.

It was Apple green and came with two spare rear quarters.
Those are what the dude was saying to me when I found it, too bad he sold it a week after I found it and said he had several people look at it, and only one guy figured it was perfect..
And that guy wasn't me cuz I never got to see it.

Anyone know who bought it?

Anyway, options please at 5 grand for a shell, and 10 grand for a shell.
Anyone.. if possible, what are my options at those prices.
I am asking for options here, and I will listen and deliberate on those options.

10k should get you a good project car. Like I said I don't know of anything available at this time for that sort of money. I will keep an eye out. Ring Barry tommorow & see what he had got. Freight for the body I got was about $600 from memory.

Um.. Rock?
Not to ba an asshat here, like you are being...
But, name ONCE when YOU helped here?
Cuz.. I just went over it and didn't find anything..

Please do share your opinion and critique, as well as your insight.

Other than "I'm crazy"

and in your case other than "He's a wanker"
Which.. if I didn't have a girlfriend, I probably would be.

As a general rule of thumb there are two types of men in this world; there are wankers and there are liars.

Figure 1.1

Figure 1.1 demonstrates how 99.7% of men are wankers regardless of their marital status. The 0.3% that are not wankers do not have hands or the other necessary equipment to carry out the act. This also explains why they are single.
