Title: 1970 Boss 302 parts
Post by: RocketScientist on October 21, 2014, 11:46:26 am
I am just wondering what people have stashed away in their sheds........
I'm after the usual stuff that goes missing: smog system, rev limiter, space saver, crank pulley etc. I am in no rush as my car is in the paint shop and is month's away.
Brad.

Are you going the concourse route?

Power steering or non power steering crank pulley

Yes, I am going to take it back to as original as I can, as that's where I see the value is in the car. I still aim to be practical about it considering that in the US they are trying to sell NOS front spoilers for the price of a small car! It probably won't ever be judged in a Mustang Concours though, as I don't believe in the politics that goes into judging (but that's another story....).

I'm after the non-PS pulley and I hear that they are hard to get.

Yes the non-power steering pulleys are hard to get but the power steering pulleys are acceptable as they replaced the non-power steering ones. I have a power steering pulley that I sourced before I was lucky enough to find a non-power steering one.

If you're willing to part with it, I might look you up some time as it would be great to have one.
I'm in Perth and my car is in Sydney waiting its turn at being painted, so I don't get the chance to see it or play with it. Its a white car with a shaker and I liked the contrast of the white with black stripes, mixed with a bit of chrome.

perhaps if you draw up a list of items you need that might be better. As you know there are hundreds of Boss specific parts when you count them up.

cheers

Hi Mark, thanks for the info on the smog system, I'll definately check it out.

I'm worried about the National Head Judge as I think he'll be a hard task master and difficult to impress.  He knows Bosses pretty well and sets the bar very high and if I come close to his standard I'll be happy.

I think you may have to be more specific about who as there are several Head Judges/Judges  throughout OZ who have detailed Boss knowledge.

I have to agree with this!

Please take these comments as my own personal views but that doesn't mean that I value anyone elses views, expertise and experience any less. I will always appreciate any input and help that I can get my hands on and I will aknowledge that no one person always has the answer and solutions often come from consulting groups such as forums.

There are certainly a few people that know their stuff.  There's also some that have no idea and let their egos do the talking. The joys of car clubs and the many that frequent and/or join them.
