I like the shape of the 65 66 better but the 67 68 brings the dollars quick....very good investment in my opinion

Im pretty sure that the 65 66 was the biggest year for FORD so the numbers of fastbacks are a plenty compared to 67 68...dont hold me to that but Im pretty certain without grabbing a book

Good info there from a bloke who has bought & sold plenty of all the models. The original question was resale value not so much personal preference. The Eleanor thing has definatly helped the low end of the 67/68 FB market, not too sure about the clean unmolested ones at the top end of the scale. As much as I like modified cars I would struggle to chop up a good clean stocker & I imagine most would feel the same way. The 65/66FB hasnt had the Hollywood help & they pull good coin for a quality one. I reckon if I was going for an investment quality concourse car a 65/66 K code fastback would be hard to beat. Without going to a Shelby/Boss etc. For a driver restomod 68FB all the way, has to be a BB though::

What a thread!!!

I am a huge fan of 67/68's. 65/66's are great, but the curves of a 67/68 vibe a real 60's muscle look.

Of course, owning a 68, I may be a little one sided  ::

I like all Mustangs equally, they all have their good bits and bad bits, however boobies are just great!

Haha, we're all different - 65/66 fastbacks are ok, 67/8 Fastbacks are great - love the original rear end (bit of a 'butt' man myself...) on them and nice all round, however for a mean look the front of the '69 is 'Boss' (sorry) and the rear of '70 is very nice...

Coupes don't really float my boat at all really - however '69/70 is nicest coupe shape...

Convertibles - all good...

The think the 60's was the best of the Mustangs.
I love the clean simple look of the 65's and also they were the first of the f/b's
The 67-68 are a bigger heavier looking car with the best looking dash of them all.
The 69 Boss 429 looks very tough but has a very ordinary looking interior and dash compared to the previous models that were much cleaner and classic looking.
Thanks for all the opinions though and it is a good thing that every one wants some thing different. I know some love totaly original and I like modified as long as its keeps to the cars factory style of look so the parts you add belong to that era and look like they might of been an option for the car not something thats from say the 70'80's stuck on a 60's car.
Cheers

I have my preferances as we all do but I was looking this time for an investment so maybe not 100% what I want. I love my 65 and will be keeping it for a long time. I was thinking of buying a 67 for a second car that I will enjoy for a while then move on other wise I was thinking of a 57 2door Fairlane as they look fantastic as a resto mod car but will be harder to sell.
I would love to do a 67 shelby faker but with a worked 460 under the hood. But dont know if there is money in that idea so was thinking either another 65/66 or a 67/68 bb. So with that said thanks for your thoughts and maybe I should go the 68 over the 67 if one comes up.

I am tending to think you might be right with the 65 original and 68 resto mod bb.

Foresight I think your right with the ideas of the years for their looks.

Kerry as much as I love my 65 I think your right with the shelby 67 having the best looking front end.

Cheers Guys
