Lincoln Versaille rear end in 1965 Mustang
« on: January 23, 2010, 05:17:12 pm »
Hi I hope some one can help me.
I have a 65 Fastback with a Lincoln Versaille 9in disc brake rear end. The hand brake leavers that attach to the callipers are missing so I need to either track some down or fabricate them.
Does any one know how I can sort this problem or have pics of what they look like so I can get them made as per the original items.
Thanks in advance for any help you can offer.

Can you please give me your email address so I can send you a pic of the callipers so you can make sure they are the right ones as they may vary with the year of production I would guess.

Also was it a big problem to connect onto the factory hand brake leaver or did you change that also??

Yeah its an issue. Put a pic up of the caliper as I think it is the same as we used here on the Falcon. There was a thread (or 2) on that subject not so long back. if so then the parts would be local for you.

MO should jump in here with the suitable links...:+

Thanks Kerry for uploading those pics for me.
The second pic is upside down, thats the leaf springs in the bottom of the pic.
I know thats how I sent it to you but thought I should let others know so the picture makes as much sence as possible.
One leaver turns clock wise and the other anti clock wise.
The cog like piece that the leaver attaches over is only the size of a 5/10 cent piece.
I dont even know if the cables run over or under the diff. If some one could send me pics of there Lincoln Versaille 9in disc brake rear end showing the leavers and cables ect that would be great.

Is that similar to an EB caliper? they have the nut thing, so you can screw the piston back.

My question when posting the pics, was "are these the same as the Aussie Falcon calipers"?

If so then the hand brake levers would still be the same. The was a thread on the subject not so long back. MO, jusTANG I will leave it up to you two to find the link.

I am zonked out of my head, so going to bed, night all!

Cheers jusTANG and Kerry
If they are the same as our local Falcons then what year would that be???
I think the Lincoln rear is a late 70's so I guess ours would newer then that???
Maybe a EB as BLKPNY said.
How do I find out???

The EB caliper is made by PBR, and is Alloy. It has an arm hanging off that bolt, that is what the handbrake attaches to.
If you don't have the proper tool (which is crap anyway) you unbolt the arm, and wind the piston back with a socket, then bolt the arm back on.

I am sure it was someone like Hev that has that Falcon rear disk setup & maybe shaunp had added something. They are two names that come to mind.

I emailed a guy in Sweden about his set up. He said his 69 has been converted to a floor hand brake leaver. Do I have to do this or can I use the factory under dash leaver????

Both will work. There have been threads here on how to get around the shortcomings of the original park brake. Usually extending the lever under the floor near the g'box X member.

I spied some lincoln versailes brake components at Capital Classics a couple of days ago. Didn't notice the levers but I wasn't looking for them. Would pay to give Mark a call.

Just in short what is the shortcomings of the original park brake??? as mine doesnt have one at all now so I was going to buy either a new one or a new floor mounted unit and then all new cables.

Hi Rohan how far off is the car now???
