65 Fastback boot (trunk) alignment
« on: July 27, 2020, 09:58:57 am »
I'm hoping the experts can point me in the right direction here. I'm having issues aligning my 65 fastback boot lid. I can get it pretty much spot on without the torsion bar fitted. However as soon as I fit the torsion bar which keeps the boot lid open the entire boot lid goes out of wack. I'm thinking either the torsion bar may be bent or my boot hinges may be worn out as there is some side to side play on each hinge as well the the bracket where the torsion bar goes through with the clip. Has anyone rebuilt these hinges (I want to avoid cheap knock off's made in China/Taiwan) and should the torsion bar lay flat on the ground for example? Mine looks like it has a twist in it which presumably creates the tension. Thanks
