66 - reverting to original stub axles/spindles
« on: July 12, 2020, 08:30:10 pm »
My 66 has Girlock KH 622 707 14 brake callipers (with corresponding spindle and stub axle - yes, yes bump steer I know - put on the car about 18 years ago before all the aftermarket disc brake kits emerged - think they are from an XY).

I am thinking about reverting back to the V8 original stub axles/spindles to remove bump steer and replacing the brakes with a kit that will bolt to the V8 original stub axle/spindles, which I have. Pulled them off the original drum brakes and cleaned them up on the weekend.

If I revert to using the original stub axle/spindles, will they change the ride height (higher/lower) or change the position of the wheel/tyre relative to the outer guard (in/out)?

Wheels/tyres are 205/65 R15.  Car is lowered with 5 leaf reverse eye springs in the rear. Not certain what springs are in the front.

Also, will I need to change the upper and lower control arms? Anything else apart from outer tie rods? Thanks.
