Is anyone running a Vortech Supercharger
« on: June 08, 2020, 12:30:47 pm »
Hi,
Are you running a Vortech Supercharger and what size pulleys are you running!
My 68Mustang is running a 347 Windsor with an American V3 supercharger, SI impeller, 10 rib  8" crank pulley,  2.95" supercharger pulley giving it maximum rpm of 52,000 at 5300 engine RPM.
I'm getting plenty of boost, 14psi before the intercooler,  300kw before belt slip at 5000 and 700nm at 4250rpm.
I think I'm running the supercharger needlessly fast. I could rev the engine higher getting more horsepower and get the supercharger to max at 6000rpm. The larger supercharger pulley would also help with belt slip.
The engine has forged pistons and crank, but no gridle and only two bolt mains.
What are most people revving their 347's to.
I'm thinking of changing the supercharger pulley to 3.33" and revving it to 6000rpm, that would mean the supercharger maximum rpm would be 51,890.(perfect)
Vortech have a calculator on their website!

Cheers Phil

But if you've buggered a lot maybe you're not very good at it!
